I have some laying around im my garage. I'm hesitant to install because ive heard are bad things about them 80% of the time. Does anyone have sportlines on their car right now? I need some more information. Thanks

Check out page 3 of this thread. I have the sportlines and have had litterally zero issues with them. Believe it or not my 60ft actually improved with them. I'm sure some it had to do with a stickier track and more driver practice but still. I'm not sure what problems could be associated with them other than a considerably stiffer ride. That's just a natural side effect of lowering a car....

Yes. You will be fine.

I wouldn't recommend it. Shocks should be matched with springs. Stock shocks aren't made for lowered applications. I have the Blistein II and I don't think they're that great for my application.

BLOWNDFIZ - What exhaust setup are you running and how is your ground clearance?

The 95 has edelbrock shorties, custom Y-pipe and flowmaster catback. Ground clearance is great. Nothing has ever bottomed out.

The 94 I run adjustable edelbrock coilovers on the front and edelbrock IAS shocks with Eibach pro's on the back. It's not as low as the 95 with the sportlines but this one has Hooker long tubes, custom y pipe, and hooker catback. Ground clearance is great.

BTW, I've never heard of a lowered specific set of shocks and struts for our cars other than QA1's and maybe Koni's. I'd be willing to bet most lowered cars out there are running on stock or stock replacement shocks

I've heard that it is not good to run stock with these springs especially, AHHH what should i do?? haha

Do what you want, I wouldn't spend the money personally.

FWIW I have lowered both cars and initially used the factory DeCarbon shocks on the 94, and the 95 had Bilsteins on it when I bought it but was factory height. I've had this car lowered for 10,000 miles on the same Bilsteins and never have had a singe problem that many others have had changing their shocks....

Spring rates should be matched to a comparable shock.

I'm running the same exhaust setup (except 2otl instead of slowmaster) as your '95 with sportlines and it's pretty rare that I bottom out as well. I was just curious if you ran them on your '94 because I'm hesitant to put LTs on it until I switch out my suspension (I have sprtlines w/ one coil cutout on the front) for something that will give me a bit more ground clearance (the goal is Koni 4/3's with Strando 1.2" Lowering Springs.

lol well im not going to " do what i want " because i want to put in the springs , but i do not want to crash going 80 down the highway. I've just heard its really unsafe, so thats why im asking.

I wouldn't call it unsafe as much as not optimal. The ride will be a bit rough and the car won't handle as good as it could, but it will be plenty fine to drive on.

But honestly, you only need to replace shocks every 100k-250k miles, so I'd wait till you have the $$$ and do a full suspension at once. That's just my humble opinion though, take it or leave it.

It's the position I'm in. I want slightly more ground clearance so I can run LTs when I have the power to justify them. And I also want it to handle really good because I want to be able to road race it in the future as I enjoy going fast in more than a straight line (hence why I bought a 6 speed)

So..... I'll wait till I can afford what I need and research until then to find out what I need.

I'd highly recommend contacting Sam Strano (google him) and telling him your goals and he will tell you what to get. Just realize he does have a store and might try to SELL to you so just try to listen to his advice and not his propaganda (not sure how much he will try to sell you, as I haven't contacted him yet because I'm not ready to spend the money)

I just love the look of a slammed camaro.... i got the sportlines cuz i heard they're some of the lowest you can buy, but as far as goals.... im getting headers soon, MIDS to be exact cuz LTs will not work with sportlines, other then that , i want to work around my sportlines when talking about modding my car. I will just save for shocks... What kind would u recomend?

Just know your goals. Keep in mind MIDS won't net you the most horsepower. If your only going to be a bolt-on car mids won't choke you much, but, if your like me and want to put out a decent amount of power your going to want LTs. If that's the case, I wouldn't suggest more than 1-1.3" lowering springs.

As far as shocks for sportlines go.... I'm not really sure. Like I said, I have them with blistein level II ss shocks, which aren't optimal but they're fine despite being pretty worn at 151k miles. I personally would look at Koni 4/3s. If you call Sam and tell him your just making a nice cruiser and you have sportlines and want to pair a good shock with it I bet he'd help you out. He knows much more about the spring rates than I do. I looked for a chart with common f-body lowering spring spring rates this afternoon but couldn't find it. If I find it later I'll post it up for ya.

I thought LTs made like 3-5 more hp then mids? Not true??

I thought LTs made like 3-5 more hp then mids? Not true??I wouldn't expect much more than 5 at the wheels on a otherwise stock car. You could see 10rwhp on a full bolt-on car.

Sorry if you got offended by my reply, but I'm simply saying that if you put them on your car, you will be perfectly fine, you will not wreck, and you will not destroy anything. The thing is you asked if you could do it, I said I have with two cars, driven 1000's of miles with no signs of anything abnormal. I'm sure this is the same with many, of not most of the other people here with lowered cars.

I highly doubt some of the "other" mods (hose mod), or V6 springs in the rear of a V8 are any more safe than changing a set of springs. I'd have to say that those two mods are far more risky to run on the highway than a set of stiffer lowering springs on stock shocks.

So, I ended up installing the eibachs, wow was that hard. Ive never done anything like that and i did it in about 14 hours total. Im really proud of the work ive put into my car ( so far, i have just done the exhaust and suspension) I love the way they make my car look but i could not imagine gettng long tubes with these in. Im gunna go with mids when it comes down to it but ill get some pics up for you guys soon.
