I beat the dogshit out of some ls7 lifters. I had great luck. Sucks that you didnt.

I used to run a set and never had an issue, but then I know of two sets, two different motors same issues. Never again.

Engine is not all the way in, just supported by the strut towers and the dollies under the motor. Next step is to finish the harness mods and lay that over the motor (hence the not 100% in)

Nope, but this lava stuff is amazing. Wrapping the pipes is easy and best part, no itch what so ever. I did all of that with no gloves, long sleeves etc. Highly recommend it. Seems to not discolor either.

I gotta do the harness, guages into the HVAC panel, yank whats left of the HVAC, adjust the trans dipstick to read correctly, and some misc hold downs for brake lines etc. Its close, prob a solid day if I focused.

Basically today was getting the engine harness organized and pulled through firewall. Aside from a few grounds, the engine could run as is now. Pulled the MAF plug for good from the harness. Got to order up stuff for the gauges, then put the dash back together, and then the BLS HID mayhem of a harness...

Changed out the oil today, prob a little early but needed to get the assembly lube out and verify no leaking coolant internal. Thankfully it all came out crystal clear :lol:

I reclocked the dizzy, it was way off, and really need another person to fine tune where TDC is so I can clock the dizzy well.

There is no way I found Cyl#1 TDC comp with any degree of accuracy so its still off. I tightened it all done and will adjust with another set of hands on board. I had unplugged battery for awhile but still didn't fire off right on first crank. And popped CEL.

To continue the ramblings of myself, to myself. For any that remember, my car has always had a ****** tapping at idle and increases with load/rpm. First build I thought it was lifters but then it happened exactly the same with new build. Jumped to thinking its either lifter adjustment (it wasn't) or an exhaust leak (it wasn't).

So, after smashing up my hands for a couple hours fixing what wasn't broke, I started it up after adjusted preload to 3/4 turn on lifters, still tapped. **** this. Decided to take belt off in hopes I would get lucky...

That ****er has been on the same motor twice now and I never thought to check it. Wobbles like a mofo and I am assuming its tensioning abilities are in question. So, hope I can grab one tmmr and install tmmr night.

Think that fastener loosened up and its a bitch to get to so prob avoided it. New gaskets will be in tmmr and I will figure something out regards to fasteners. If I can get a stud on that one I will.

Yea that kind of shit sucks. You may need to get the flanges surfaced flat if it is too bad. You were using the right gaskets though, if it won't seal with felpro then pretty much nothing else is going to work.

Look at getting some ARP 3/8" 12-point, 5/16" head bolts for the exhaust. They have the absolute BEST clearance you can get for exhaust. Plus with the whole 12 point undersized head you can get a wrench on them that is strong enough to actually tighten them fully.

Depending on how thick your header flange is, you will need the different lengths.

I've seen header retainer kits, but I have never seen anyone actually use a set. I guess if they were actually needed I would have seen a set by now. I always look under the hood of every car I see.

I've actually had pretty good luck with these exhaust gaskets (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fel-ms9275b/overview/), did I mention they are CHEAP, probably $5-6 at your local parts store.

The best part is you don't have to pull the headers to put them in. I think one of the reasons they seal so well is that there isn't useless material in between the cylinders. They sealed just fine on a nitrous/alcohol motor.

She made it to KY, completed the true street cruise and made the passes for that and ModPA. Drove it back on trailer and made it home to NJ successfully. In that sense, it was an awesome weekend of racing.

But...she is a fucking mess, rear suspension is jacked up, trans is puking fluid, trans doesn't shift well, and or, I can't do a burnout for shit. So back to the drawing board, lots to clean up and figure out what happened between a few weeks ago 10.2@140 to this weekends messhaps.
