I know this is not totally LTx related but I like and value the opinions of you guys and gals. I am a die hard Chevy man and frankly they dont make much I would drive. so my HHR is approaching 100K miles. At 100K miles I plan on putting it in storage for my oldest son. I may pull the drivetrain and give it a once over, but it is running great and is worthelss as a trade. He will need a car in 2 years and the HHR is pretty safe, has air bags, is slow, and is paid for. Damn cash for clunkers killed all the decent affordable used cars for kids. anyway.. my question is would a Six Banger 5th gen be a good Daily Driver for me? I guess the style is starting to grow on me and they are relativly cheap. I was even thinking a vert (but not totally set on one). Probally a 2LT so the options are decent, and the NON RS package. I could prob swing 450 to 500 a month if the APR is low and term is long. The 2012 V6 is rated at 323 HP and 25mpg hiway. I mainly travel hiway now and the HHR just gets that. Issues I have with the car is the poor visability and RWD. How is the rear in this platform? Is this finally an f-body that can go out in bad weather? I was looking at probally summit white with orange stripes and the orange accented interior. I was thinking just the 19 inch rims so tires would not be too expensive. The warranty would go by fast since i do 300-400 miles a week. I found a 2011 45th anniversary V6 Vert, but I am not ready to buy, and I dont think i want a limited edition car for a DD. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thats a great looking car....

Honestly, I never wouldve admitted this before we bought one..... but the Genesis Coupe is awesome and with the 3.8 V6, it hauls and has 100k 10yr warranty.

Nothing wrong with the Camaro though....

i would say go test drive one....i test drove one back in like jan-feb and i DID NOT like it....as you said the visibility sucks and i just did not think it was comfortable. i drove an SS so i cant say any think for the V6 power.

I consider the genesis too. I may test drive one to see. I have driven a few 5th gen SS cars and I like them a little. It has taken me a long time to even like them that much. The visibility in the hardtop is bad, so I imagine the vert is worse with the top up. The hhr's visibility is not that great either. I can get employee pricing on GM cars. I really want to stay with Chevy if I can but what they offer is a little disappointing.

I drove a vert 5th Gen for Like a week while my friend was out of town...it definitely was good on gas. But I just didn't dig the visibility issues annoyed me really bad considering the traffic Cali has. But as far as drivability in the rain I haven't heard complaints from him.

If you want umphhhh, just remember, drive a 3.8 v6.... not the 2.0 turbo 4cyl....
