Im gonna need an aftermarket tach and shift light with my new cam swap. I dont want a big ol' 9000 rpm tach and I dont want to just put a shift light in the defroster vent. I do want something that is small but I can still plainly see it if that makes any sense. Ive seen digital tachs with shift lights online and at summit but I want to know what you guys are running before I order.

Also where to you guys mount your tachs so that they dont look tacky? I was think on mounting is next to the a pillar on the dash. Anyone have any pictures?

I run the stock tack, I refuse to put a large tach in my car, and I intend to instal the shift light in the third hole of the triple pillar pod.

I like the column idea. What brand are those? I dont want to spend a fortune but I also want something accurate.

I've got a shift light in the dash next to the A-pilar gauge pod. I want to get a more accurate tach than the factory one and after seeing Nocturnal Z's at the 2011 shootout I want to recess it in the dash like his. Hopefully he can post up some pics if he sees this. It it the cleanest way I've seen to make a 5" tach not look like an afterthought on our dash.

Well I was a hair away from just buying an autometer gauge and mounting it on the dash like most guys do until I saw this thread...(I hate linking to another forum but I thought this was very cool.)

I PM'd him to see how he did it. He used a Glowshift Gauge which is very cheap being <$50. Ive searched around google and a lot of diesel guys are running Glowshift EGT and Boost gauges. Seems like they are love or hate though.

Yea but how accurate will it be? All you need is a piece of pipe adapter to make it fit. I did it with 3 gauges on my old transam in the vents. Been a few years but ill see if I can find the part number of what you need. It was around 3-4 bucks at menards

Yeah Im worried about the accuracy of the Glowshift. I would like to use a better brand but mount it in the vent like that. If you could find that part number that would be great. I like that tach you showed me in this thread, I may just order one of those and try to make it fit. Ive been looking for a deal on one, but cant seem to run across them on digital models, just the regular big honkin tach you gotta mount on the dash.
