My ACDelco fuel pressure regulator came in yesterday and today I gotta be at work at 2pm, so i figured i could wake up at like 8am and get it done before I had to go.. Well i first tried to remove the screw holding the regulator to the rail only to have the torx bit pop out too many times.

Afraid of stripping it, i decide to take the fuel rails off. To do this I had to remove my strut tower brace and loosen the nitrous lines coming from the rear of the rails. In the meantime I broke off the piece that holds the throttle cable onto the bracket before the throttle body. I might have to use a c-clip or something or replace the whole cable assembly. Fuck.

Now, i got the fuel rails off, the damn torx screw WILL NOT BUDGE! I managed to get maybe a half-turn out of it while the rail was on. Now the rail is off, i have let the screw soak in PB and WD40, and i cannot get this bastard to turn. It is now stripped like no other, I cannot get a vise in there to turn it, and broke the tip of a flathead screwdriver trying to get it off.

I'm gonna finish working on it tomorrow, any suggestions on removing this torx bit?!

Try an easy out.

My fuel rails are disconnected right now with my injectors just hanging there. If I turn on the ignition, and the fuel pump primes, should it spray out the injectors?

I just had the exact same issue. I had to drill out the torx bolt.

Did you drill it out from the front or back (or top to bottom)??

I can't remember, I think I just drilled right here the hex socket would fit into the bolt.

you want to drill it from the top, and if you're just drilling it and not using an easy out use a bit wayy smaller that the bolt and work your way up, that way you cant hog out the threads and wont have to worry about re-tapping.

Finally got it out today, i took my dremel out and cut off the bracket that holds the regulator to the screw. Then got a vise and removed the screw, went to the hardware screw and got a hex-head so this doesn't happen again.

I was replacing my regulator to attempt to fix my slow start issue, but I feared it was the fuel pump, and turns out it was. My car acts exactly the same. But at least I have a good regulator and dont have to worry about it going out anytime soon. Looks like the Racetronix kit soon anyway. I don't regret putting the regulator on first though, since it will be good longterm for spray. Who knows when its been replaced

the same thing ocurred when i attepted removal,i caught it before it got bad. removed the rail from the car and used a small pair of vise-grips to remove the torx.

if you turn the key to the on position and fuel comes out of the injector at all that would not be good!

Here is what I used to put mine back together. I have a bucket full of random gm, ford, honda bolts. I think this is a stud of some type off of a honda.
