So I made about 6 passes at the track a week ago and I didnt notice this until about the 3rd pass. When I start getting on the brakes after I go through on the big end I started having some really bad popping noises from the breaks. The got it stopped every time but it sounded pretty bad. It didnt do it on the forst 3 passes which is what has me wondering. At first I thought it was the ABS and it very well may be. I went through at like 112 mph. Any ideas

are you feeling the popping in the brake pedal? would definitely check your suspension too.

Yeah its deffinitly in the brakes. Its only when I am on the brakes. If I let out of them, then it stops. As soon as I get back on them it does it againg. It finally stops at aroung 70 MPHish.

Are you running regular rotors,or are they slotted?

How hard are you getting on the brakes? It's entirely possible that if you're jumping on them then you're hitting them hard enough to lock up a tire activating the ABS.

I am not slamming on them or hitting them any harder than normal. Definitly not hitting them hard enough to lock anything up.

I drove it in today. Ran it up to 100 and stepped on the brakes just like I did at the track and no noise. It just seems odd that it didnt do it the first few passes and then it started all of the sudden. I was not hot lapping it either. Like 20-30 min in between passes, so the brakes had plenty of time to cool down. Brake fluid res is full as well.

Maybe your feeling brake fade/rotor warping? I would double check your suspension and drive line. Check U joints. Does it do it in drive as well as in neutral?

I will be honest and the only time I really noticed it was with the clutch pedal depressed. I push in the clutch and start getting on the brakes as soon as I go through the traps. When I did it on the freeway, the clutch was engaged and I did not notice it. I would have thought if it was rotor warping, then I would be able to feel it all of the time.

if it only happens with clutch pedal depressed i would suspect something in the clutch area then

Thats kind of what I was thinking but what could it be in the clutch? At that point it is just free wheeling and me hitting the brakes doesnt have anything to do with the clutch. Its possible that its just coincidence and I am reading to much in to that.

what area of the car does it sound like it is coming from? front, back, middle? do you feel a vibration when it happens and/or on take off? trying to help you figure this one out. like i asked before can you get a video of this happening ? hearing the noise might help me give you some better suggestions. this is a strange one but since you say it only happens with clutch disengaged most likely a driveline noise.one more thing when you push the clutch in and hit the brakes do you have the trans still in gear or do you pop it in neutral?

It has not done it since I was at the track. It feels and sounds like its comming from the brakes. Its pretty noticeable when it was happening. It really felt like the ABS was pulsing but I had never felt ABS pulse that hard and loud. When I go through the traps I push the clutch in and put it in neutral and then start getting on the brakes. The noise does not happen until i apply the brakes. As soon as I let off teh brake peddal it goes away. As soon as I get back on the brake peddal it comes back.

Did the pulsation change based on speed? If so then it will be with the brakes them selves. If it was a controlled pulsation and it felt like the car may have slowed un evenly corner to corner, then abs. Try to think about what stopping on ice feels like with abs and compare your track experience to that. If you cant figure it out, let me know and I'll check it out in person. Oh, wanna buy some golf clubs?

Honestly my first thought was warped rotors but it seemed to be doing it to hard for that. It has not done it since then and that is the only time it has done it.
HA HA I love Golf Clubs :).

I would go over the front suspension. when your braking your putting a lot of load on it and then when you release it the load is lifted. maybe a bushing it starting to go in a control arm or something.
