I have the stock floor shifter in my '96 Impala SS. The previous owner (my father) had some transmission work done about a year ago and when he got the car back the shifter has trouble locking into reverse. It will go with some playing. I asked why he didn't take it back a year ago and he said it didn't bother him. Now the place is out of business and I have to fix it myself. Any idea what it could be?
