View Full Version : Help me sleep! Please!

Does anybody know a real good way to fall asleep fast? Lately I've been very tired during the days and restless at night, unable to fall asleep. I know the cause, lack of quality sleep, but can't seem to find a good cure. Basically, I work most of the day outside, the job isn't necessarily hard, but there is repetitive movements and some lifting and I feel like I could fall asleep sitting in the truck within 2 minutes... I go home and relax for a little, but then I workout (very intensely) just about everyday and I drink NO Xplode (energy, pre workout drink) and all the sudden I wake up, and I'm ready to do ANYTHING! The problem is, I stay that way for hours into the night and have trouble getting to sleep. I have some melatonin pills that I occassionally try, without much help even if I double the dosage. I use no drugs, and don't ever want to. I wish I had a GF or someone who could give me a massage at night because I know for a fact that will work, but in the mean time, I need SOME way to fall asleep and stay asleep naturally. Any help or advice here? Sorry it's kinda long, but I'm looking anywhere I can for help... I want to feel alive ALL day again!!!

Right when you get up have an energy drink. Have another around noon, and then some pepsi or whatever for the rest of the afternoon. Keep yourself busy during the day. After all of that caffeine has it's way with you, you will hit the bed like a ton of bricks.

Taking a nice warm bath is an excellent way to dissolve tensions and leave the day behind. It has a paradoxical effect: the warm water rises your body temperature at first, but then later on makes it drop faster, easing your way into the night by making you feel sleepy. But don't take it just before going to bed for that same reason.

I know guys dont really like taking baths ( I think ) But Maybe a warm relaxing bubble bath would really help and relax you. Give it a try.

Right when you get up have an energy drink. Have another around noon, and then some pepsi or whatever for the rest of the afternoon. Keep yourself busy during the day. After all of that caffeine has it's way with you, you will hit the bed like a ton of bricks.

I tend to get headaches with too much caffeine in me, and I don't drink any soda, but I could take an energy drink or two during the day I guess. Are those 5 or 6 hour energy shots any good?

I do go in a hot tub shortly before bed, then shower but it isn't enough usually. I guess a bubble bath is a little different though. I also eat a lot and drink a big protein shake before bed too... I gotta grow!

Thats true, it stays in your system about 5-6 hours and I take it between 530-6pm, so obviously its hanging around til close to midnight. But the main thing is my workouts, I love training hard and I feel so alert and active after I workout, but it's a shame that I feel that way then, when I should be slowing down and getting tired. I'm hoping to get away without removing anything from my diet or supplements because they all help me grow and I'm training naturally, so performance drugs and other crap are out of the question.

I don't usually have too much trouble getting to sleep, but I know that Nyquil and Benadryl pretty much knock me out when I'm sick.

same thing i was going to say...if not ditch it completely then lower the amount and slowly ween your way off, and soon enough you wont need to take it wile working out.
i used that stuff for about a year and a half thinking its so great, but really you just need the motivation to work out. i use to take 3-4 scoops a day before i went to the gym (depending on how i felt that day) but then i started lowering the amount and after i completely stopped taking it, i was still able to work out just as hard.

I'm always able to motivate myself to workout, but I love taking the NO Xplode when I'm tired from the day which is basically every weekday. It reallys speeds up the process and gets me going. Also, it supplies a little creatine that I don't get in my diet. Two birds with one stone kind of. But I see what your saying, you almost become dependent on it after a while, lol

I don't necessarily think you need to ditch the No Xplode altogether, just take it earlier in the day. Depending on what time you workout, take it 4 hours before then and by the time your workout is over it should be out of your system, but still have given you the egde you need to work out hard. I don't use NOX now, but I am taking an EC stack 2X a day. I take the last dose at 3:30 or 4PM and my workouts start at 8:30 or 9PM. After I workout I eat a 1/2 peanut butter sandwich and 8oz 1% milk. This gives me some carbs and protein after the workout. I then shower, go to bed and sleep like a log.

HAHAHA this thread is getting hilarious! But anyways, yeah, I've slowly made some changes over the past week or so and I can tell I'm falling asleep a little quicker because I don't remember laying in bed much the next day. My diet and my workouts have also, been second-to-none lately and I've put on over 5 solid pounds in the last couple weeks NATURALLY :metal: and I'm still gaining.

I'm also probably going to drink a couple good energy drinks during the day so I will hopefully feel good all day long. Thanks a lot for the help so far! I still can't get over the fap thing... :laugh:

Sometimes it has the opposite effect and really makes you want a girl, which isn't exactly on the top of my list of things to do right now. I don't go try to pick up chicks, I just let them come to me and unfortunately most of them are probably afraid of me so I'm shit outta luck lol. So that makes it even harder to get to sleep.

Well the only time I really see any girls is when I'm at the gym and I'm usually pretty quiet and all they see is muscles, veins, painful faces etc... lol

I also just lack self esteem and put myself down haha

lol that could be a little intimidating..and also the girls there may think you dont wanna be bothered while you are working out, so that could also be why they dont say anything...and you know alot of girls want the guy to say something first, so you may have girls interested to talk to you buy maybe they are waiting for you to make the 1st move.

Dont you have girls that are interested in your Camaro ? A bad ass silver Camaro with a 383 :hail: is just awesome...im sure it draws attention...and a good conversation starter.... alot of the girls I know seem to be more interested in ''nice'' cars like BMWS, ETC. and really dont care about a fast car...or whats done to it...if you can find a girl thats interested in cars, than you will have something in common and she will want to go to events and suff with you. I know most of the girls I know really are not into my Camaro, and they really dont get why I am so into it and why I have all these plans for it...well they are not Camaro Girls like me lol soo find a Camaro Girl or Trans Am girl or even a Mustang Girl. Maybe go to car shows, the track, or events and just strike up conversation with a girl. (not if shes a fat ass tho)

okay that is a problem!! I dont know how you act in person, but you know when you see someone that lacks self esteem, you can just tell by the way they act and the way they carry themselves... and alot of times thats not a trait that draws people to you.. you need to think more postive.. walk around smiling, girls love a happy smiling guy. think about the things you like about yourself.. dont focus on the negative stuff. I have had self esteem issues , and sometimes I still do.. So I know that feeling, and it doesnt feel good, but I dont act like it in front of people anymore. (at least 95% of the time) Most people that know me, have no clue about it because I am always so happy and fun.
People like to see the confident person who is having a good time, it draws people to them.

Unfortunately I don't know of any girls around here that are into cars and all that stuff. I definately turn everyones heads when I drive anywhere though. The only people that say stuff are younger kids and older guys that are into muscle cars though lol.

I guess my real problem would just be that I'm pretty shy, and so I don't really initiate conversation with too many people unless I know them well. I rely on people coming up to me. I don't mind talking to someone if they really want to, but they have to approach me lol. Another reason I need to get more sleep is so I can avoid being tired all day which really makes me not want to talk anyone.

The funny thing is, I usually don't like to draw attention to myself, but almost everything I do, is the opposite... I drive a LOUD car, I bodybuild, so everywhere I go, seems like people are looking at me just cuz I'm visibly different than most people lol. But I like being different, so thats good I guess.
