Hi there this is my first post here and im new to the lt1 aswell.
i recently bought a decent 93 z28 has a few problems but runs great.the
fans are wired into each other and into the harness but there is wires run from battery
to the i guess relay as shown. it works like this but i know its not right so how should
i fix this could i maybe just run a toggle switch into the cab? Any help would be awsome thanks

personally i would try to restore it to the way it came from the factory. that way you wont have a chance of overheating it if you forget to turn them on. that relay in that picture looks like it is melted so i would at least rewire the fan circuit. shbox.com has the wiring schematics for the cool fan circuits.

I would get rid of that and put it back to stock before it causes a fire. Some people shouldn't be messing with stuff when they don't know what they are doing.

Your fans should be wired like the top portion of this schematic (http://shbox.com/1/fan_schematic_1995.jpg).

I agree with Shbox. Wire it back to stock and see what happens. Watch your temps after you wire it back. If they rigged it there's a good chance they are not coming on. Could be a overheating issue, wiring issue or just a failed temp sensor in the water pump.

That relay is pretty close to melting down starting a fire...
