Well, after enough time of winning against guys I really shouldn't have I knew this would happen eventually.
I have guys that run retarded fast wanting to race me. It's hard for me to say "no", but I never like a race that won't be a good one, or that won't be at least somewhat close. I don't like racing guys who run 13's in the 1/4 the same I don't like racing guys who run 8's in the quarter. It's pointless, and a slaughter.
My car has never seen anything faster than a low 11 at the track. On the street, my best kill was against a LS1 Camaro that runs 10.1 at the track.
Now, I have a Chevy S-10 truck that runs a mid 9 off the spray that wants to race (a low 9 to possibly an 8 on the spray). We actually raced once before. It was partially my own fault for staging the race as we did. We started at a 3 MPH roll. My car was around 1,000 RPM. He instantly got 5 good car lengths on me, but once I got my car in the powerband he didn't really go anywhere, and by around 80, I even started to inch closer.
He wants to run again, this time in a better power band for me. I should still loose considerably, but am actually happy my car is not getting destroyed by a 9 second vehicle.
The next and bigger opponent;
A mid 90's RX-7. He still has a rotory engine, but has been known to run faster than a 10 second 1/4 mile, and this time he has an even better setup than he had before (since the motor blew up on the last combo). He is very secretive on what he has done, but I have an inside source that claims an 88mm turbo (he was running a 76mm turbo last time), and I am guessing he is putting down north of 750 RWHP. Good Gawd! Compared to my small 614 RWHP heavier Camaro I just don't know what I am thinking.
My only prayer is that I can get him out of the hole good enough to put him behind far enough he won't catch up by the quarter mile. We'll see.
We are trying to setup a race (the RX-7) tomorrow night. Any suggestions? I am yanking all extra weight I can out of the car, removing the plastic under bumper piece that covers my air filter (hoping for another pound of boost or so). What tire pressure should I run my Nitto drag radials at? I usually have them about 35 psi, and that hooks okay, but I think I am wanting to drop the psi, and get them hot so I can really drop it from a higher RPM.
Thoughts??
