Hey everyone. Some of you may have remembered my build or seen pictures of it, and thanks for playing along during that time. Now that it's approaching fall in the next couple months, I have a new project that I'm about to begin.....

I won't give much detail right now, but pics (coming soon) should give it away pretty easily.
It'll be powered by my stock LT1/T56 that came out of my '97. One build helping another! I knew there was a reason I kept that stuff around.....

Already have:
Body (needs some work)
Rolling frame
LT1/T56 (need bellhousing)

As far as I know, not really anyone has done this before, and I doubt anyone on this board has.
The anticipation builds......:secret::secret::secret:

Was is it....Swapping an LT1 into a BMW or something like that?

Hell no! This is much cooler than an LTx in a BMW.
Pics time! Take a guess at it...

You know it! It's going to be a bit before I get going, but the basic plan is cam only, spec 1 or 2 clutch, probably tuned speed density.

My friend Howie has an LT1 in his hot rod:

^ Very cool. I'm going very old school with mine, barebones, flat black with some hand pinstriping, red steelies with chrome centercaps, very minimalistic and "traditional style". Oh, and no hood, so everyone can see how much of a bad mother fucker it's going to be :metal:

Honestly, LT1's don't look right when transplanted into older cars. They sit incredibly low due to 4th gen windshields. My friend Mike put an LT1 into his Dad's '55 Chevy and it looked awkward. There was 2 feet of clearance between the top of the engine and the bottom of the hood. If you get the hood low enough it will look much better.

That's your opinion, sir. While I appreciate constructive criticism, you're comparing a '55 chevy to a '27 T roadster. Apples to oranges.
And how would an LT1 look any more different/awkward than any other small block? The blocks are nearly identical, with the motor mounts in the same exact position as any other SBC. I've seen MANY 55-57 chevy's with SBC's, and they all looked fine in my opinion.

I am more than likley going to put my 355 LT1 in my 56 chevy, trans to be determined still.... I am in the middle of specing out the chassis. Probally a welder kit that uses all c4 vette running gear. I will probally be putting a fabricated intake on the LT1 casue it dont have one now and probally a Procharger (intercooler behind the grill before the radiator). I think it will look fine. It will def look awesome in a open bay hot rod. good luck with the project

An LT1 breathes through the front. The top of the intake is barely above the valve covers. An old school sbc with any aftermarket intake will most like have a 4-bbl carb sticking up and then a 2 or 3 inch air cleaner above that. All in all it will be 6-7 inches taller, easy.

This is true. But I think it will be much cooler to leave it fuel injected and have it look "different". It would actually cost me more money to convert it to carb, and this is an under $5,000 hot rod build. I'll leave it ugly :)
