I went to the track ran a couple 9.4's sixty footing 1.32 to 1.35's. Decided it was time to man up. Put some colder plugs in it pulled some extra timing. Pull up do the burn out stage the car leaves hard pulled a 1.33 sixty foot. But it went slower. Turned on the wrong switch. Another pass on the plate with only 18* timing and it goes 9.6 at 138. I do another pass all motor 10.6 at 126.

Okay this is the pass everyone is waiting for. The fogger an .028 jet with a .5 second delay off the brake. The motor screems. The rpm's are high, I think I just blew the tires away hit 2nd and the motor drops down to the converter before the 300 feet. A 9.8 at 142 with no first gear. I'll have to pull the tranny to see what is broke. It has no first gear at all. Reverse works and I got 2nd or drive(powerglide).

I'm going to fix the tranny for a spare but it's time to go with an aftermarket case and straight cut gears.

The track here was empty. You could have hot lapped with less then 5 minutes between rounds if you wanted to. Every time I pulled up I drove straight up to the water box without shuting the car off. Just once again things didn't go right I never made my goal but 9.4's on a small jet isn't that bad is it? Talked to the guy that is probably going to go back thru this motor today at the track. I have a feeling he is going to be able to pick up a little more power out of it. Dry sump pan, vacuum pump and a different cam are in the works. Different firing order too I beleave.

9.4 is unbeleivable!! You would have had the fastest F-body (and beat Z8s street car) at Byron today!
Lots of cars and lots of breakdowns:(:(! But I ran a new best and so did Larry at speedinc. Couple other guys ran pretty good too.

The wife said I made the fastest pass at the MFBA rental at cordova I think she was just lying because she wants something. I know it is time to get a good tranny. I don't want any more problems like that at the bigger races or the races with money on.

Was there a money race today? Get that tranny sorted out and youll see 8s soon!

No money race. I wasn't goiing to give him the half second when he didn't lock in the 24 hour time frame I gave him. He wouldn't do it heads up.

As far as the 8's this car has it in it. A little more power never hurts. This was the first and only tranny I put together so I want to take it apart and see what happened.

In the plate the biggest nitrous jet I've put in it is a .075. Should be 200 or a little less. It's edelbrock's 150 tune up turned around 71f 75 n

The track prep was nothing like the rental two or three weeks earlier but it was pulling 1.32-1.35's every pass I sprayed it until the final one :|

Great Job Jake. I am doing what I can to catch up :D

BTW TH400? Low Roller clutch let go?

Well we were lucky it was in the 70's Saturday and that is not real common this time of the year. I just wish I could have got a better time with the extra 60-80 hp I gave it. I can't beleave I only lost 4 tenths at the same time with the way the motor ripped.

I will be picking up some more power before the next shootout. I'm thinking a local guy is going thru the motor this time. He's going to check on the major blow bye I have and he is talking about a LS1 firing order. He builds some nasty 305 ss motors.

Powerglide? Band? reverse still works. I haven't pulled the pan off but is it possible that the adjusting bolt bent? I don't understand why first was holding when the brake was on and let go as soon as the .5 delay hit?

PG? sounds like you may be on to some thing. Pan should hold tube up so it should not blow out.

congrats on times.
if your builder can do a B or C cam, please let me know! i have already looked into that with no success.

I made some changes to the carb and decided to look at the tranny. The carb runs better but I think I need a new tranny case. Without tearing it apart I'm not sure if there is enough material there to repair it. But I pushed the band adjustment bolt out of the case. Was it because of the 40 year old core or was there to much pressure I'm not for sure.

Thanks, but I still fell short of your times :)
I'll have to run the B or C cam by him but if your talking about the 4/7 or the 4/7 & 2/3 swap yes he has a source. I almost did the 4/7 on the current cam I'm still kicking myself for not getting it.

yeah, your builder will most likely understand that terminology. we checked with comp and it wasn't feasible.

if your builder knows of a means, i would greatly appreciate a heads up. i wanted to do this over a year ago, but the idea was shot down.

who cares what i run, all should matter to you is what you run. 9.4's is rockin' it out bigtime! as well you have the suspension working very well on your ride!

thanks

I need to get the motor out and get it up to him. I will give him a call this week to check on his schedule and ask about the B or C cam.

Yes I'm happy with what the car is running I just fell short of my goal but to go from a basic stock bolt on car to this in one winter was a radical change. I think I would have been able to give your times a run for the money if the tranny would of held. But there is no way I would have been able to do it with a 6 speed.

I know some suspension guys have a good following and they deserve the credit they are do but the guy that built this rearend and torque arm gave me starting points on the phone and it worked out. If I would have gotten the car to his shop before the last couple of track rentals to put it on the scales I could have saved a few passes. A little tweaking of the shock preload and it was going straight.

Thanks and I'll let you know

cool thanks! biggest question is who makes the core for the cam ???
