Hi Guys,

Most of my mods are in my sig. I need a little help on deciding what is next for this car. Here are my options. I can spend up to 3 grand a year...

1. 6 speed conversion. This is going to run me about 3 grand because I would get any T56 I bought rebuilt, new clutch and hydraulics. I love to drive stick, but I have a bunch of money tied up in my FLT auto and Yank converter. This setup has been flawless. I feel like the auto can do that 2-3 WOT shift better than I can...lol

2. 12 Bolt. I think my car needs some gears, so was thinking of going with 3.73. I have been postponing the gear change because I dont want to put money into the stock rear and wanted to go to a 12 bolt. I kind of baby it out of the hole because my converter hits hard and dont want to break the stock rear. I guess this is a necessity either way. Price: Figure 2,500

3. I always wanted custom gauges and a steering wheel in my car. With respect to gauges, I would fabricate something that fits in the existing location and fill it with Autometer Nexus gauges. I just love those gauges. With a nice momo or grant wheel, this would be pretty cool. Price: 1,300

4.Tubular K Member and and upper and lower control arms: Shed some weight. Price: about $1,000 with an aligment afterwards.

5. Kooks long tubes to replace my existing RK Sport headers. I would run an off road y pipe. Im tired or rusty headers although I did have my RK sports recoated a couple of years ago and they are holding up very well.

These are the options I am thinking about. Another thing in the back of my mind is, we have no more emissions testing in NYC for OBD1 cars, so I could have AI grind me a new cam and get me to 400 rwhp. I do really like my exisitng cams manners and torque curve though. It just sounds really tame and is a total sleeper. I dont have to rev past 6100 to make power. I just feel like there isnt much of a point to that since I dont track this car.

Ive had this car since 1998, and its been a show car, summer weekend car since Ive had it. I have put a lot of money and time into it.

Your opinions are really appreciated!

Thanks

If i were in your shoes, I'd get longtube headers, tubuler k-member, guages, cam, 12-bolt (but if you did do the conversion to a t56, I probably would go bigger than 3.73s), then the t56 conversion in that order. I also have an automatic and am looking to do similar things but my situation is a little different. I recently got my first lt1 and wanted a stick shift bad. I thought I was going to do the swap to a t56 as my first priority, but I am going to take my friends advice and see how much I like driving it as an automatic.
