View Full Version : K member and wheel alignment after Engine removal/installation?

I'm looking at buying a 1997 Z28 and a new motor was put in it, and the process from what I understand is removing the K-member from the bottom and putting in the new motor and all that jazz.

Well, here is the thing... the car needs an alignment pretty badly, steering wheel is clock at a 40* angle to the right and I think it has something to do with the K member being re-installed and the person who did it didn't align it very well and threw the steering junk out of alignment and I'm not sure how to do that to straighten things out on the car.

So, Fbody guys...how would one align the K member correctly so that the car could get re-aligned on a regular rack? I have a feeling it would require a 2 post lift seeing the K member would have to get loosened and aligned properly.

Who could I take it to that could competently align everything and then possible align it so the car could be road ready ASAP?

Thanks in advance.

The pins are a tight fit, pretty hard to install it wrong. I dropped my engine out the bottom and reinstalled with no alignment afterwards, haven't had an issue.

Like mentioned, just take it to an alignment shop and have them look at it.
