Tranny or converter problem....?

Well my Tranny was rebuilt about 9months ago...today i noticed when I merged on the highway was going about 55mph gave it just a little gas car felt like it was bucking pretty bad and not really getting any faster. So I gave it some more it down shifted moved nicely got up to about 78mph set the cruise and went on my way.

Thought maybe one of my wires were burnt or something well that's not the problem so I go to take it out again downshifts fine upshifts fine I floor it and it pulls like normal at at MPH I floor it doesn't slip at all. So I have narrowed the problem down to once the converter locks at 45mph its seems fine but when i give it just a little gas not enough to make it downshift it feels like its not moving so I give it some more it bucks a little struggles to move and then I hear a really weird squeaking sound not constant but with pauses in between. then it smells weird after that. The sound for sure comes from under car the fluid level is fine and is not burnt...but I did think it smelled kind of weird but I could be wrong.

The tranny is perfect other than when I try to accelerate lightly when converter is locked up..its fine until I give 1/4 to 1/2 throttle under lock up then the symptoms I describes above happen. this sucks..

Can anyone confirm the torque converter? I wanna have a good Idea of what it before I take it back to this place.

Im not a tranny expert but i do know i wouldnt drive the car until you figure out what it is. It could be the converter but most of the time when one goes bad it tries to lock up when sitting still causing the car to stall.

Car runs fine doesn't try to stall the converter still also locks and unlocks fine..its very weird that it only acts like it slipping when the converter is lock and you give it like 1/4 throttle just cruising its fine if you floor it or push the gas enough to make it unlock its fine..This car is starting to just be a problem.

Are you sure the car isnt skipping? But that wouldnt explaing the weird noise. Id get it checked out before you fry something in the tranny if there is something amiss in there.

no I'm pretty sure its not I mean unless when the converter lock it put extra load on the engine I'm not sure but yeah your right that wouldn't explain the noise. I also tried cruising at 50mph then at the same time tapping the brakes real quick to unlock the converter then accelerate lightly and its fine no noise no slipping/hesitation feeling, but with the converter locked it does all that weird stuff I hope its the tranny/converter and not something in the bottom end squeaking. I don't think it would be but you never know.
