I'm thinking about which heads and cam to use for a DD and was wondering if the GM847 cam and LLoyd Elliot LE2 heads would be a good setup for a DD

IMO the GM847 is too big for a DD, and if you are going with LE heads you might as well get an LE cam to go with them.

For the LE2 Package there are two different spec cams.. Would the bigger of the two still be to big or should it be good

for a true DD a cam in the 22X/23x at .050 is about as much as I would recommend, but I've never had to DD a larger cam so I'm just giving you a guess. If your gonna give Lloyd your business then give him a call or at least an E-mail, He will know what you need.

I'm in a debacle here because I don't know which cam too puck between the two cams available for the LE2 pack the cc306 from comp or the GM847

We just tuned a car with an 847/LE2 heads combo where I work. he made 432rwhp and 417rwtq. He daily drives it and you can put the car in 6th and putt around at 1300rpm all day. stock 3.42 gears and all. You can DD a bigger cam but it needs to be setup correctly. bump your compression up a bit and a spot on dyno tune is critical. I have DD'd my car and its pretty streetable! not too bad of mileage either with it being around 23-25 on the highway. good luck with your build!

DD a 23X/24X cam just fine here with a 6 speed and 3.42 gears

Wow, that's beyond impressive, almost unrealistic. I will admit I am a bit skeptical of the HP numbers, but would love to see some track times to back that up.

Can you provide some more details on the car?

That won't really matter. The rotating assembly doesn't really make the power (apples to apples). It's all in the valvetrain.

Reliability.

All a 355 is is a stock stroke, .030" overbore. In many ways it's just a fancy way of saying "rebuilt."

Can the stock rods and piston handle a lot or should I upgrade those for a solid amount of power?
