right now it has the same headers on it that were on the original sbc. they work, but need replacd for a plethora of reasons. anyone swap an lt1 into an a body and try different headers? i am wondering if simply an fbod header will work, but i don't have one to try. definitely looking for a 1.75" primary, long tube with 3" collectors. i'm trying to steer from swap specific headers because they are always blatantly overpriced.
anyone done it? thanks in advance.

I'm sure you'll be able to get something to work. The impala lt1 headers are an option too. Popular in swaps.

Speedway motors has d port headers that work . http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1965-1989-S-B-Chevy-Long-Tube-Headers,5351.html
Fits D-Port cylinder heads including ZZ4 crate engines
Does not fit 67-69 Camaro with A/C
Will fit most angle plug heads including factory Chevrolet “Bow-Tie” heads
Requires removal or modification of locking steering columns if equipped
Installation requires left side A/C bracket; later vehicles with short compressors can use the stock bracket
Will fit Detroit Speed & Engineering front subframes with rack and pinion

All you need to do is order sbc headers for your el camino and make sure you get 1.75" primaries. That will make sure they fit the body of the car and cover the d port shape on the heads.
