Looking at purchasing a used set of AFR 195cc heads matched to a LT4 INTAKE for $1400. I have a 355 w/ a hot cam, stock bottom end and im currently running stock heads and intake that are hand ported to match eachother. Will up grading to these heads and Intake be a signifigant enough hp booster to justify $1400? I know they sell new for 1800 but these are used and I will prob have them rebuilt with new valves, springs, and my comp pro mags if I get em.
Thanks for your opinion

Are they the new design head? The Eliminators? How old are they?

Not sure of the design but From what I know w/o calling and asking they're prob about 5yrs old. And they are the street heads not the compitions. He had em on his 383 motor.

Those will be the older design. No big deal though. They are very good heads. Room for improvement with more porting.

So they would def be apt better than what im currently running? And worth the $1400 price tag?

Its hard to say. I have no clue what the flow numbers are for your current heads and the ones you are purchasing.

Not that I am aware of.

They will benefit more with a bigger cam than the hotcam. Get a part number off of them.

The LT4 heads/intake is no better then the lt1 stuff and is generally over priced. If you want the best bang for you buck spending about 1400 get a set of LE2 heads with a matched ported intake. Lloyd will even set you up with a cam to your likings aswell. AI makes more power but they are also more expensive. I agree with the above if your going to move up to a set of bigger heads would be the perfect time to bump the cam up.

That is not entirely true.. These are afr branded lt4 heads.. Not stock heads
I bought a pair of LT4 AFR 195s a few years back. The ran me 1200 if memory serves, had been ported by a builder somewhere in the NE... they flowed 290cmf @ .600 and that's 1/3 more air than the stockers and that translates into power.

AFR heads have alot of potential... my 190s have been worked and flow 294/208 @ .600. We'll find out soon enough how they perform on my build just waiting on my damn clutch to arrive in the mail!

i have these same heads on my car. mine have the upgraded 2.05 intake valve. should make a huge difference over the stock heads and intake. Id throw in a bigger cam though if want to make some serious power.

I have the GM LT4 Heads, Forced Inducted 648 RWHP on the pump and 722 RWHP on the Good Juice, So I would say the LT4's are not that bad..
