I've ran across the need to replace one of my crank pulley bolts. Will a replacement from a place like Lowe's work? Or will this need to be ordered from a dealer?

i don't see why a normal replacement from the parts store wouldn't work. i'd put some loctite on it though

Yes it will work. Nothing really special about them.

I've heard two different schools of thought on this subject. I've been told it's a "specially hardened" bolt and it should come from a dealer or ARP.
I'm leaning toward the hardware store approach as I am low on time before she has to be running again. However, this is one bolt I don't want breaking on me. lol
Any thoughts?

if your talking about 1 of the 3 that hold the balancer on, i don't see why would not being "hardened" would make a difference as long as it holds. like i said, just loctite it if your really worried to keep it from backing out and i don't see it not doing the job
