A friend called me yesterday (Monday 10/27) and said he would be getting a 69 Chevelle. He then asked if I was willing to trade my Camaro for the Chevelle!! As is!! He said it was a 69 Chevelle SS with a 4 speed and a 396. He said the car runs and drives but it needs some TLC and a front windshield. Now I love my car and I try to take good care of it. I've put alot of $$ to get it where it is today. Granted it's not the cleanest Camaro where I'm from but I do what I can. I haven't got up close to the car to see what kind of condition it's in nor have I had a chance to check out the vin# to see if it's an actual SS and not just a clone. My bud wants to make the deal this Friday so I don't have much time to make a decision. Who wouldn't want to own classic muscle?!?!? I would but of course I'm going to check it out before I make a decision. Here are the only pics I have of the car. I took them outside of the current owners house and I took them with my cell so they are not the best. I'll get more pics ASAP. Trade or no??

just my 2 cents.. I wouldn't trade my f-body for it.
like you said, you've spent a lot of money to get your camaro where it is today
with a car like that.. i'm sure you'll have to do just as much work, if not more, to get the Chevelle driving like you want it to.

yes, it's a cool ride.. but i wouldn't trade if i were you. plus.. there are MUCH more cooler old school muscles out there, IMO

i say don't do it. take it for a drive tho

Agreed. Don't do it. I guess I don't really understand why your friend would pick up a car in order to trade it, but whatever.

I'd rather have the Chevelle. I love my car and everything, but the Chevelle SS is my dream car.

He's been buying and selling cars to make money. He has a lot of connections when it comes to old cars and came up on this one. I guess since he knows I'm into speed and muscle cars that he would throw this my way before he tries to sell it. Of course, either way it goes he's going to make some $$$.

the only way I would trade is if it's an ALL numbers matching car. Then rebuild it to OEM, it will be worth TONS more than your Camaro that away....but your gonna drop some cash doing that...

Just keep your camaro unless you wanna have a big project on your hands.

Is the car straight-bodied? No rust and in overall good condition? If so, I would trade in a heartbeat if my Camaro wasn't the DD. I don't think I could turn a 69 SS down as long as it wasn't going to be a money pit. The parts for those are ridiculous sometimes.

IMO, LTx cars are getting to be dime a dozen if you don't mind doing a little wrenching to them. You can pick up a roller for less than a grand anymore. The Chevelle isn't something you come across every day. Should be much easier to sell than the Camaro if you do decide you don't want it anymore. After that, you could always find a cheap 4th gen Camaro...

Bottomline is that its your car. Do what's going to make you happy.

I dont think I would do it, and I love Chevelles...

Rather build my own, like you built your Camaro...

71 SS 454, I really dont need to say too much more.... Sometime.... Sooner rather than later :D

My dad has a '72 Malibu with a mild cam and a '70 SS 396 (402)
