ok so i went and found me a cc 306 locally and picked it up for 100 and it was in premo shape. I am wanting to put this in the car right now. the car is a 1995 m6 firebird with long tubes and exhaust.

I have made a list of what i need. Just wanting to make sure i haven't missed anything.
Cam (cc 306)
Lifters (ls7 lifter)
Valve springs (comp 918's) do i need to have a ls retainer with this and different locks?
Pushrods--what length with the ls7 lifters
roller rockers (i have 1.52s comps) what brand 1.6 rr??
head work---to get the most out of the car.
tune (if i can get enough money for it)

my buddy went into the elevens with this cam on no tune in his m6 bird. i might be able to save up the money for a tune.

before i get bashed I PERSONALLY KNOW that to run this cam the right way i need a tune. Please do not come in and start talking mess about me possibly not running a tune. if you have nothing helpful or encouraging to say then stay out. I just watn to know if i have everything on my list and i need a fews questions answered thanks fellas

Encouraging: good luck with the swap and running without a tune (I don't suggest it):secret:

Tunning is never a big deal.... its all about having the car 100% first.... thats where my struggle has been. Boosted Stroker, but a misfire that fights me.....

Either way, good luck with everything....

I remember reading that the 918s might not do it for the agressive ramp of the 306? I could be wrong though.
Comp makes great roller rockers, if you have the extra cash get some high quality NSA ones with trickflow guideplates.
You will need new pushrods (maybe not need, but its good insurance) trickflow makes nice hardened ones for a decent price. Make sure to measure! No one size fits all once you start changing the geometry, but i belive stock length is 7.2 and if you dont have milled heads/diff head gaskets/deck then you MIGHT be ok. But why maybe be ok when you can measure :D
And finally, tune it! Its going to be dogging without a nice tune, treat your car to a good tune :)

You read wrong, the 306 does NOT have an aggressive ramp...

I still wouldnt trust those POS springs though, nor would I use the cam. But thats just me

so 918s wont be ok to run with the cam. which ones will be good to run then?? do i need to just get a meassuring tool to measure the length of pushrods i need??
i havent found anyone that (beside me shipping the pcm) can tune the car locally. if i replace the head gasket what gasket should i get and endoing this i have to measure for rods.

you could use the comp 986 springs ,

cca-986-16
cca-740-16 retainers
cca-611-16 valve locks 10degree
cca-4704-16 spring cup

thats what i used and am still running . no valve float or issues . i also used guide plates and nsa rockers .
honestly i would stay with the rockers you have and use that cash for a tune . theres a add in the for sale section selling all that stuff .

Should be able to use LS-6 Beehive Springs (Blue or Yellow) with COmp Cams 918 retainers and the right spring cups. This should save you enough for a tune.
