This may be an easy fix but thought I'd post after a quick search. The car is a bit of a freak and the PO hacked the harness a little, so here goes. I have a 97 (V6) chassis with 97 Camaro gauges, 94 LT1 motor and 93 ECU and harness (for A4 despite being swapped to M6!), still with me? Most of the dash was inop when I bought the car. No speedo, oil press/level, etc. Have reconnected all but my tach and speedo seem to be reading twice normal rate?! Is there a filter/converter I missed, jacked up my wiring somewhere or something in the V6 trans to LT1/T56 swap? Any ideas or advice are appreciated. Thanks...

It may be fixable in the tune, although it seems like you have quite a mess with all of these different year parts going together... When we swapped mine to a 6-speed, the speedo read roughly half of what my actual speed was. This is because the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) is different between the auto's and manuals. I had my pcm reflashed to fix this problem. It seems to me that if the previous owner didn't take the time to make the gauges work, he probably didn't take the time to have the pcm reflashed, or in your case, get a new chip burned since it's running on a 93 harness..
Also, is your cluster the stock v6 cluster, or is it a cluster from a 97 LT1?
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in and get you straightened out :)

Back from the dead! And thanks, good points that I'll look into. The gauges are V-8 but I think the harness is for a auto (so the reprogram/VSS) may be the issue. I appreciate the heads up and hope to fix the last few elec gremlins before adding a few of my own. ;)
