I think the pics say it all. He acted like nothing was wrong, just wanted a new set of brake pads, wouldn't listen to my advice. Your life dude.

In the first two pics, the pads are split up by side. The next pic has one pad from each side, for comparison. Something look wrong there???

..or if it pulls to the side while braking.

The two really worn pads the same side, right?

Yeah same side. Guy has a completely improperly sized rotor on the car.

When I worked at Advance I had a customer come in with a rotor that had only about 1/2" of surface area left. In other words it was just the hub! A caliper bolt had fallen out so the caliper dropped down and just started slicing the rotor away. It was about 3" smaller diameter than what it was supposed to be.

I work at O'reilly's and just love it when i will ask the customer if they need caliper grease and they reply no i got it.

then come back in a week later with one pad still looking new and the other one is worn 1/2 down. then tries to tell me the pad is defective

some people really are too stupid to be messing with their vehicle just to save a buck when they are really putting their live and others in Danger.

No, but I had a guy start calling me names the other day for saying we won't do his battery (people expect it, but it's merely a "at will" service we offer). I came over the counter at him, he set me off big time.

i hate ignorant people like that. they come in and throw parts at you and then tell you to warranty it out when you know its not defective and you know its not the problem. it just really irritates me. and it is true if there is anyone out there in a retail place that you should treat with respect, its your counter person. b/c how you treat me determines how hard i want to look or how outgoing i will be.

oh and don't go in to a parts store and ask for a water pump gasket for a sbc 350, and when i ask whats it out of they reply "it doesn't matter its all the same." you can bet they are going home with some lt1 gaskets:D

Right, if they dont care then I dont either..

If they do care, and are nice.... Well then I might just bust my ass to help. Thats the way I was when I had to deal with people directly, and it works great most of the time.

You know, I'm GLAD there's a couple of other parts counter guys in this forum. Good chance to rant. Think I'm going to start another thread just for that sake. :D

yeah that would be cool where we could tell our best stories and the stupidest things that have happened.

it really is a cool job though and you learn some good stuff it seems like everyday.

Thread posted in the lounge with a 1-10 rant list started. :D

Back on topic, said brake rotor guy has not been back.

Of course not, he dident like what you told him (almost like every car customer) and he went somewhere else for an opinion he liked more.

I make it a point to know of a vehicle it could have come from. I may go in there asking for parts for a '94 S-10, a '95 vette, and an '89 fullsize... and go home and put them all on the same vehicle:D

Though some guys really are clueless when I ask for a universal K&N. He couldn't get over that it was a custom intake on an Camaro motor in an S-10. Said he couldn't look up cone filters, it had to be for a vehicle:doh:

I used to do the same thing with my truck. I just went in and ordered whatever I needed for a 94 Camaro.

yep unfortunatly some people are scared of looking up stuff in the books, and will tell you that if its not in the computer then it doesn't exsist.

I went into the O'Reilly's here right before closing the other night looking for a conversion U-joint for my roommate's Nova. I even brought the old one with me. They told me to come back tomorrow and ask the manager. I just got the book and just asked the guy to get me "XXXX" part number. I couldn't believe no one had shown those guys how to use the books. The were scared to death when I told them it wouldn't be in the computer lol
