So as most of you know I have an 81 corvette that sits too much lol. I'd like to get it running as my DD so that I can use my camaro as more of a weekend car. I've been told one of the things it needs is a decent carb because the one on it is junk apparently. I, however, know very little about carbs so I don't really know what to buy.

Here is what "I" am looking for in a carb:
-Fairly Reliable
-Will bolt on and run out of the box w/o much adjustment

I know I'll have to buy a new intake as well, so I'm prepared to throw down some cash. I just don't know what to buy!!! Help :(

as a DD i would recommend a edlebrock performer intake and pretty much any quadrajet with a electric choke its a lot more reliable as far as i know and you'd probably only need 650-750cfm. But im no expert im just offering my opinion/help

Get a two plane intake and a quad jet. I doubt youll even need a 650. Call up summit or someone and see if they have a package

edlebrock makes a great 650 take it right out of the box an install it an they seem to do very well. I myself had bad experience with quadrajets. I love holley an demons but being ur looking for something less complicated edlebrock performer intake an carb would be your best bet for simplicity an price.

Why spend $500 on a new carb and intake when you buy a carb kit from the parts store for $30 and just rebuild it. Q-jets are good carbs, they are just more complicated than holley or edlebrocks. You should be able to get a rebuild manual from the library or on amazon or i think i have one laying around i could copy off and e-mail you.
