View Full Version : This is gonna be fun
Just got these Melrose longtubes and duals with random technology cats. Also got heated o2's and the harness adapter. Im gonna order some mufflers and tips on friday, and I'll be installing all this hopefully next week. Anyone know how to hook up the "hot" wires for the heated o2 conversion?

Its not fastbirds but its almost identical. I've seen fastbird's instructions, seems pretty simple, I just get confused when it gets to the fuse box part. Do I need an in line fuse? and how does it wire into the fusebox? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the compliment popo

Thanks I appreciate it :finger:
I'll be sure to post a video for you all
Started working on the car today, and its not too hard but its time consuming. I wasnt able to get the old exhaust off today, but its just about ready. I had to stop early cause I had night school today, but tomorrow I'll have about an hour between school and work, so I'll try to remove the exhaust from the cats back. Thats if weather works with me, we're supposed to have 40 mph wind.

Thanks man.
Yesterday I worked on it for a while and was able to remove the exhaust from the cats back (its a pain by yourself.) Then my brother showed up and helped me remove the drivers manifold, and install the header. The driver side header fits great with no clearance issues. The forwardmost, and last two bolts are a pain to get to but not impossible. I had to grind down the head for the #5 primary bolt, as it was hitting the primary. I also got the plugs, wires, and pretty much everything on the drivers side buttoned up. My goal for tomorrow is the get the passenger side buttoned up, wire the o2's, and start her up.

ugh, everytime i see your car i want to get a c4 again. its gonna sound sweet!
Thanks guys
I have like zero time between work, school, homework, and working on the car, but I'm hanging in there. I busted *** today hoping I could finish it and have it detailed for a car show on sunday, but it aint happening. I got the passenger manifold off, and with the help of my awesome girlfriend was able to install the header. This side was way easier than the driver's side. Everything was looking great, untill I noticed that the A.I.R pipe wasn't even close to going into the bung. I spent a couple of hours trying to force it, but nothing worked, its just too far off. I didnt take pics of it, as I was way too frustrated, but I'll take one and show it to you guys so you can see how far off this is, its not even funny. However, My dad came up with a solution. My dad was a plumber, and has many plumbing tools. My plan is to cut the tube to the length we need it, and use a coupler to connect it to the other end of the tube (you'll see). The hardware store was closed so we have to wait till tomorrow to buy the coupler, so I decided to wire the o2's, and what do you know, another road block. My plan was to tap the "hot" wire from the o2's into one of the auxillary fuses in the fuse box by using a fuse tap. Well surprise surprise, my car does not have an underhood fuse box! What we are gonna do now is use an inline fuse and wire them into the wiper wires (that should be a switched on 12 volt source right) (gonna use a tester anyway). Well needless to say, I didn't get the car started today. I work tomorrow, but my dad says that he will work on the A.I.R. tube tomorrow. For sure I'm gonna finish this on sunday though, I don't care if I have to pull an all nighter.

I didn't take any pictures from today, because as you guys read, I had a rough time, but I'll take some either tomorrow, or for sure sunday.
Alright guys well yesterday when I got home from work, my dad was already done with the A.I.R. tube, and it turned out pretty sweet:

Like I said before, The tube was pretty far off, it was in between the #4 and #6 primaries, and the bung is on the #6 primary. But anyway, here are the pics of the headers on.

Today was bitter sweet. My dad and I got the o2 sensors wired in. He is badass at this. He made the part that I was more fearful of seem like cake. And in reality, it was pretty easy, but I had just never wired anything like that. I started the car, and it is LOUD!!! (open longtubes) To my surprise there are no exhaust leaks from the flanges, so thats good. However, when I went on to bolt up the rest of the exhaust I hit another road block. The driver's side extension pipe hits the trans tunnel, and one of the bends is so far off that I cant get the X pipe into the extension pipes. On tuesday, I'm going to take the car to the exhaust shop so they can make the exhaust fit. I did get to drive the car around the block, and damn its loud, specially when I give it a little throttle. I'm kinda pissed off that the exhaust, specially from a company like Melrose, doesn't fit, but I'm happy that the car is running great, and I didn't screw anything up. On a side note, the headers fit like a glove.
Went to the exhaust shop to get the exhaust done. Drove there on open headers and damn was it loud. So the exhaust guy got the system on, and at idle it sounds a little louder than before, but when you get on it, its sweet thunder. It sounds so amaizing, unfortunately, on the highway i get a HUGE amount of drone, so I'm gonna have to put some mufflers on there. And im not just being a sissy, I'm used to drone, keep in mind this thing had flowmaster race 40's on it before, but this is just too much. I hope I dont lose the tone it has at WOT though. As far as power goes, its got a little more on the low end, but the mid, and top end got significantly better. All in all, I'm happy with the results. I took some vids, but the sound quality really sucked, it didnt sound even close to what it sounds in person, so I'm gonna try and get better vids and then I'll post them up.

The car is driving good, but Once in a while I get an SES light, however, the car keeps running good. I can shut off the engine and turn it back on immetiately, and the light will be gone. I have an aldl cable on the way to check for the code, but has anyone had this problem after installing headers?
Just got back from California and it was badass, so many cool roads in Yosemite...unfortunately, I didn't take the vette  I was driving my dads yukon.
Anyway, the mufflers and tips are on :D It got a little quieter, but it still sounds badass and it gave it a more refined almost exotic tone, and it picked up a little more low end torque :)
