I am swapping drive trains in my 92 Vert. that currently has a LT1/T56 combo and considering selling the entire set up.

Motor is out of a 94 bird had 8X,000 miles on it when I purchased it, before putting it in my vert. We tore it down sent the block to the machine shop had it cleaned, honed, etc. Reassembled it with all new bearings, seals, etc and also installed a GM Hotcam kit at the same time. The motor has roughly 12,000 miles on it since rebuild and makes 320 rwhp in my 3rdgen. The trans is out a 96 and was also rebuilt (stock) shortly after the motor went in so it has around 10,000 miles on it. It has a centerforce clutch that holds fine on the street but is a little weak on the track with slicks. If I sell it I am including the wiring harness that has been trimmed down and put in standalone with fuel relays etc, also including the PCM and the Nitrous Outlet Hard Line set up with all the electronics. The motor made 465 rwhp on spray and has ran a best of 10.97 in the 1/4.

Whats it worth complete set up, motor, trans, and nitrous set up. Ready to drop in anything with complete wiring harness etc.

Thanks in advance!

I bet people would enjoy a thread covering pics and details about your car. At least I would.

I think you'll find it easier to part the setup out. You might get about $1500-2000 for the engine/trans/harness and maybe $500 on the nitrous kit (which could also be parted).

This is just what I think they are worth. I've seen stock motors with auto trannies and harnesses go for under $1000, but I know T56's are more money. LT1's go for pretty cheap these days.

I am with you here. I was thinking that someone wanting a tired and tested set up may want it to drop in a non LT based car since its already in stand alone.

I know what you mean on the LT1 going cheap, if I can't atleast 2800 for the set up it will be the base for another project.

Whats the new powerplant for this car going to be...?

The new power plant is a BBC 454 and 106 MM turbo. Shooting for around 800 whp. was going to do a max effort LTX 383 but as I mentioned it was going to MAX effort so we are going a different route and putting a hair dryer on it.

As much as a fan I am of LTX cars, this sounds like it's going to be ignorant! I keep debating if I want to sell my LS1 swap stuff for my Iroc and go the BBC route.

I think you may find it difficult to sell it for that price, since you can buy a running (high miles and rough body) LT1 car for that amount. The right buyer will pick it up for sure. Try cross posting to thirdgen.org - someone just might bite since they see it coming out of a third gen.

Your 3rdgen swap could be a toss up if you were going to go boosted or not, if you are planning on staying NA or just spraying it I would stick with the LS1, but if you are planning on boosting it go BBC. Doing a basic build on a 454 and putting a 106 turbo in front of it is an easy way to make big power. I missed out on a deal that I would have bought where a guy was selling a 3rdgen with this set up and was making 800 to the wheels on pump gas! Really depends on what you want. I am defiantly looking forward to this build in my car.

Yea you are right on the price chances are I will never get what I want out of it, and with that being said it isn't worth giving it away, so it may find it's way in to a 67 chevelle or 66 nova.

I like that plan on the future project! New technology in old cars is just as much fun in old tech in newer cars. BBC's in 3rd gens =

My plan was a carbed LS1 with spray. Just need an intake, cam, valvetrain and electronics.

Best of luck with your build! Make sure you post a lot of pics of it and a full write up.

Don't take this the wrong way but youre going about that 800rwhp the completely wrong way. You could turbo the LTx with a 88mm or 91mm turbo and crack off 800rwhp EASY. There's a guy on LS1tech that hit 1100+rwhp with a "budget" Garrett 88mm turbo on a 347ci LS1 (forged bottom end w/ stock crank, scat rods, and mahle pistons). Seriously a 88mm Garrett on a 383 if done right could go 1000RWHP easily. Once you get going anything over 91mm they get EXPENSIVE, and BBC parts arent cheap. IMO just put some low compression pistons in your engine (have it honed obviously), and go get a 88 or 91mm unit, and let it eat. A 454 and a 106mm turbo is WWAAAAAYYYYY overkill and will need way more modification to fit, but should make about 1600+rwhp. Just IMO, its your car, a 454 +106mm would look awesome.

Not taken the wrong way, I know where you are coming from. I went back and forth on what I wanted and the LTX was a thought but with a LT based motor I would still be limited and it would be max effort to obtain goals for the car. 800 whp is the starting point and we will be turning the wick up from that point. The BBC is going to be a basic build with forged pistons and aluminum heads. At anytime I will be able to turn up the wick and make serious power with out going max effort with a big block. I am all about having something different and you don't see a BBC 106 combo everyday.

Very true. I'd like to see it. Thats a LOT of Sh!t under a hood. I had 2 thirdgens and miss them dearly, they do have a lot of underhood room. If I could get my hands on a 3rdgen 'vert you better believe I'd grab it right up. Don't see em very often. Good thing about a BBC is that you don't have to get the top shelf parts to make em hold power I bet, hell they probably use 1/2" rod bolts lol.

This is my 4th camaro and 2nd 3rdgen, the reason I am building this one is like I mentioned earlier I like having something different hints a 3rdgen vert. Yea with the BBC you don't have to spend a fortune to make them hold together however if you are wanting to make power with a BBC without FI you will have to spend a lot of $$$$ to make it happen.

Your car seems rock solid! What kind of # and times are you putting down?

None yet. Its on stock T56, stock heads, and all of the other supporting mods. It's getting a cryo'ed and faceplated T56 by RPM and Lloyd is gonna do some heads for me (LE3s). I'm HOPING for 700-ish ballpark. The REAL test is gonna be TX2k12 if I can hit 9s .

On my old setup (2 years ago), I had a old set of realquick's stock manifold turbo hotparts, an ebay 70mm turbo (held together fairly well actually), and nothing else. Poor thing made 426rwhp/511tq @ 7psi, no tune, just an aeromotive FPR cranked way up, it blew black smoke til it hit boost. Poor car, but it ran really good those few months at WOT haha. I stumbled across the old video a few days ago, pretty funny looking at it back then compared to now. I forgot how much time I got in this damn thing. As I'm sure you know....NEVER sit down and add up how much you have in your car, I coulda bought a very nice modded '03 Cobra or a decent C5Z06 by now and I'm not even done.

BTW-love the color combo of your car.

Sorry its taking me so long to reply haven't been on the site in a while.

Your new set up is going to be tits! Will be interested to see how it turns out.

I feel you when you say "Poor thing" I am pushing mine so hard right now it has managed to run a couple 10 second 1/4 mile passes. haha You have to wonder how long they will hang on when pushing the limits. LOL

Speaking of C5's i have a C5 coupe that has a Trex cam and CCW's but I still LOVE my vert.!! Nothing like doing more than you should with a car that shouldn't do it. haha

Thanks on the color combo, I seem to be a fan, same with yours.
