I don't see any whining going on. There's no shame in trying to shed a load of stress off your shoulders and venting to people who support you and hope the best for you. You may be going loopy on pain meds, but we're still right here with you, bud. No matter what happens with your job, you'll always have an amazing group of people to lean on: family, friends, you're soon-to-be-wife ;) and all of us here. Feel free to blow off some steam any time, holding it in is only going to drive you crazy, trust me...

I think stress is similar to farts. Better let out in shame than held in in pain! lol

Disclaimer: Venting of any kind is not really shameful, it's just stuck up hoighty toighty societal types that made it that way

Proudly Rude, Crude and Socially unacceptable since 1987!

Try not to worry about it too much big guy. The legal system sucks, but I doubt that the whole drawn out thing will go against you. Then it'll be time to get fixed and start working on Honest Hanna's Hotrods, Hoopdies and Hoagies, or H5 for short lol

Hey man, I know it seems impossible to do right now with what's coming tomorrow, but you really should find a way to force yourself to sleep so you'll feel at your best tomorrow. Have you ever tried folding a pillow in half and laying on it so that it applies some light pressure to the base of your neck/head? I find that on nights that I can't get to sleep, that helps by putting some pressure on the blood flow to your head which makes you sleepy (it's not going to cut off blood flow, don't worry lol). But just a trick that's always had good success for me. Do get some rest though, man. You need it.

NO I have never heard of that... what if my head weighs to much and it does kill the flow... lol

I just took some melatonin, (natural sleep aid) . I will see if that gets me there....

What I ment was, while talking with my lawyer about my case that told me that very rarely will a personal injury case go to trial. It's too risky for the insurance companies. I think you're going to come out smelling like a rose...... or someone will file for an extension (seems those are popular). Get some sleep. Might I suggest, "the stranger"?

Then i introduced a letter from the insurance company that i got just before leaving for the hearing....it read that the ins co was aknowledging my hip injury and my status had changed from full duty to light duty.....well aparently they didnt tell their lawyers.... LOL.... my limp aint gansta... but I keeps it clean.

Seriously.. Im gonna go in, and advise him that my status has been aknowledged by the insurance company as "per the restrictions of Dr XXXX" (my treating Doctor.) and he clearly states, Light to medium duty... and by NO MEANS SHOULD I BE WORKING IN A FULL DUTY CAPACITY.

I still don't get the Irish sunglasses (I'm Irish so I am interested in knowing). Larry, this is typical bureacratic, court crap. It sounds like you went to a pre-trial conference yesterday. Stand firm with your position, and ride this until your actual trial/hearing. Yesterday was basically the court's way of trying to get you both to agree to something without their intervention. (Unless you aren't actually going to court... sorry if I am following this badly), too much going on).

So i went in today... I approached the boss with the new paperwork from the insurance company... I said... U prob already saw this... But the insurance company has changed my status back to light duty.... He says...NO I JUST GOT IN...grabs the paper and sets it aside...he didnt even look at it..... a short while later he headed right over to the administrative office and didnt return for a few hours.... In fact he was expected at a meeting at another twp...and he totally skipped it because the "boss" from that twp kept calling to ask where my boss was....

Later...4 hours later....after he returned and ignored me...he stopped by my desk and advised me that he did recieve the paperwork that i gave him as a fax.... I aknolwledged with a nod.... He then said... Its simple.... I am refered to as public enemy number one, by the guys I work with.... In 2004 I filed a lawsuit against my TWP based on harassment, and whats called the whistle blower act. We had a chief that was calling the twp secretaries kids (pigglets, only with an N instead of a P) names, because they were half black. Allegations came up against the Chief and I was interviewd and questioned. Myself and one other Officer are the only two that said the truth and did not lie for him..... we were told our interviews would be confidential.... They lied.. they told the Chief, and left him in his position... I was harrassd, threatened.... my shifts were night shift , day shift, night shift, day shift.... and it kept on going... SO I filed suit... that finally got the ball rolling and that chief was dismissed...... We went to trial in 2008 for a week... and till this day (FOR REAL) the judge has not ruled on the suit.....

I know it sounds far fetched, but that has kept a bullseye on my back ever since... and this new boss, is the guy who they figured will be the one to get rid of me.... and then I went and got hurt, giving him an opening...

Sorry for spelling, meds kicking in.

Ohhhh... I forgot to tell everyone this...

So ariund 1130 im headin out to start up tge truck. from the apartment complex across the street i see a very base model malibu (looked very fleet car) approaching me. I made it to the mailbox and noticed it was slowing down.

Now the last few days ive seen the car going up and down the street here in my development....

Well he pulls up and asks where Shillingto PD is....( Thats the local pd...but not the jurisdiction where i live...in fact the back of iur yard is the border between that pd/jurisdictiom and the jurisdiction of tge pd that does cover my house... Even better...shillington pd...is 100 yards from the rear property line) so i give him directions... Memorize the jersey tag...and go inside and to the back window.... I watch him drive up to the bd...not slowly like a person that was lost...but quickly...whips into a spot and heads inside.... Less than a minute later hes back in his car and driving away from the pd.... I go out front and wait.... Low and behold...pack up my street and right into the apt parking lot....

You dont live within eyeshot ofbthe pd...and not know where it is.... And further more...he was very comfortable appoaching an area he claimed to nees directions for...

The jist of my story... Ibbelieve i have actuallynmet my PI.

So yesterday i just learned some news that bothers me.

3 months ago...our school resource officer got into a physical altercation with a 14 year old at the school. He ended up complaining of pain in his arm. Ironically he has been having pain in this arm since i first met him 12 years ago.

They did not give him any static about that..even though he had previously used sick days for the same ailment...and always wore an albow and wrist brace for it.

He was immediatly taken out of work....then scheduled dor surgery.... After surgery ...healing time then physical therapy.....well he has now been labled with "limited mobility." MEANING...they have stopped his PT...and will begin the process of putting him out on disability retirement.... Wtf.

Honestly...with every bit of hopefullness i see...i get 2 bits of hopelessness. read the post i wrote prior to the anniversary one. all this drama is about who i am...as much as i tried to deny it and hoped that this is how everyone was treated...but i see the clear line.

Oh I see that the pd is f-ing the S out of your A. But after everything that's happened you can't say that you are not surprised at how they handle themselves anymore. It sounds harsh when I go back and re read this but I can't think of any other way of saying this, you have to put aside all of the BS they have said and done to you, (for now anyways). Just chuck the preferential treatment the other guy got on top of the pile of all the other shit that's happened. Right now you gotta focus on getting better physically and being a soon to be married man. Let your lawyer worry about the other stuff, that's what youre paying him 30% of your settlement for.

Your right...and it does not sound harsh. And im not suprised by the different treatment...but i can admit a small part of me hurts because its so blatently confirmed.

As for soon to be married...we are stuck in limbo...because i want to give her the wedding of her dreams...and i know thats not cheap...however with an unknown future ($$$$) its hard to plan.

Good news is...the FOP (FRATERNAL ORDER of POLICE) which is our union...pays for my lawer...as well as any litigation costs. It took destroying my life to finally understand what those 300 dollar a year union dues were for...but sure glad i have the FOP.

That's awesome the the fop does that. That will save a bunch.

As far as the wedding, you've made the commitment, and that's 99.999% of marriage in my opinion. The actual wedding day is a drop in a bucket.

While its not going to help emotionally, the fact that they are being so blatant with the unfair treatment (dare I say discrimination my mocha skinned friend) only adds to the heap of wrongdoings the administration have committed. I say this with all sincerity, I would be shocked if your puppet of a chief and whoever has their hand jammed up his ass DONT lose their jobs. It might take decades, but it WILL happen.

It def is a huge help with the union... AND i would agree with u that they would get in trouble or fired if it was somewhere respectable.

My current boss was the chief of cherry hill nj till he retired...he then became the chief at a smaller dept here in pa where he was subsequently fired from "escorted from the building and all computer equiptment was seized." (make what u want of that...but hes not a good perso )...then he applied with our twp...we brought that stuff up to the board when it was down to the last two applicants for the position...the twp.manager looked me in the face (im the union rep so im the contact for pd issues)...and he gave us his word that we were not hiring him.

MY BIGGEST SLAP IN THE FACE YET:

Larry,

According to the carrier your work status has not changed. The correspondence to the court is apparently a requirement for the carrier but their opinion is that you are capable of full-duty. Therefore, no change in status and/or reporting is necessary at this time.

A paragraph of full bullshit, saying that the paperwork I recieved from the insurance company reverting me to medium duty, WILL BE IGNORED. In fact, the letter was not even court correspondence, it had nothing to do with court. Im so close to snapping....

THATS ALL!

Blackbird96WS6

I know I'm nowhere near edumacated in this kind of thing, but is there nothing your lawyer can do to step in and force your work to change your status with a court order or something? There's gotta be some kind of way to twist their arm and force them to change your status...

Sorry man, wish I knew more to help you out. :(

ITs ok, I dont mind explaining... my attorney is doing what he can, and that is the process we are going through in court. The same process where the insurance company is trying to stop taking care of me... we are trying to expand the scope of the injury to include my hip.... its a slow and lengthy process, and will lead to my termination long before we ever get an answer....

94Blackbird is correct, but let me go one step further... the insurance company did change my work status to medium duty based on my Doctors 1/02/13 report. But even after doing that, their attorneys are still in the process of fighting to drop me. According to the judge, the insurance company pretty much HAD to acknowledge the injury, (here is where it gets tricky and confusing) however they dont like it so they are not actually ACKNOWLEDGING IT, and they stand by their Dr who says NOTHING is wrong with me, in turn the Twp is ignoring it... and Im taking it square in the ass.

Those binders are a prosecuting attorneys dream come true. I think at this point the twp attorneys know they are going to loose but they are going to do everything they can to stall and put you through as much BS as possible, the more of a financial bind you are in the more likely you will take the slap in the face offer to settle out of court. They want no part of anyone (whether a judge or jury of your peers) deciding a settlement amount but them. Hang in there, get your day in court and let your voice be heard. You will prevail.

Another thing is, every time you have a ruling go your way, your case builds momentum. As more of that takes place the WC lawyers will start looking to settle out of court. This should be your first sign that they have officially came to terms with the fact they are going to lose. Do you have a number in your head?

Boy oh Boy... the insurance company must really be looking for ANYTHING at this point.

Their lawyer has copied my attorney and I on at least 15 subpoenas for medical records for any doctor or anything that I have EVER visited...including my family Doctor (who happens to be my uncle and has been my Doctor since I was a kid)

I have nothing to hide and the only thing I expressed concern with my attorney is that I would like to object to the SCOPE of the information they are looking for with my family Doctor. I think it should be limited to my back and hip, and not an open check of ALL OF MY MEDICAL records, and as much as I should be protected by HIPPA, I already know that the insurance company has been sharing medical infromation not related to the injury with my employer and Chief... so, that is why I raise issue.

I have and have had medical issues that are none of their business.

My lawyer told me only 1% of insurance claims ever go to jury trial. Think of it like this, everyone on that jury has had a run in with an insurance company at some point. They are not well liked by anyone. Because of this they want nothing to do with a case going all the way to trial. Problem is they will bluff your bluff, all the way to the time you are walking into the court room.

LOL... I got nothing but time now... lol

I've been off for two weeks. I go back to work this morning. I started posting on here about a week to late. It's been a good time killer looking at all the nice rides on here and reading up on some builds. I should probably take another week off but I am tired of sitting around at the house. So hang in there and take it easy on the meds. Don't be afraid to use them but don't abuse them. I've seen to many people let those little white pills ruin there life. Hope everything goes good. Get well soon.

Depends on how much numbing stuff they hit me with first... But yes...its painful.

Its a long term temp relief...lol.

Idea is tonsooth and numb the nerves and take out the inflamation in the area that causes the irritation.

So now im in uniform...but i cant carry my duty weapon because im not qualified with it...and my leather gear was given to the part timer....

So first he brought me back in...then he made me midshift secretary so it was harder to socialize...then i got in trouble cause other officers were hangin out in the office and talking to me... And now he wants to pull anynlast bit of comfort from me...

Yesterday ,my boss in the midst of our conversation said, "I dont know anything about anything that is going on with your court litigation for workman's comp."

Yet today,. MY attorney let me know that March 6th at 9:30 am is when the BOSS made his deposition appointment with the workman's comp attorneys ..... Something that my attorney learned a few days ago....

Wow... two epidurals in the same day.. is killer....

And because Miss Popo started her new job today, I could not take the valium that they prescribe me to relax, so I was very tense, which you can imagine makes getting all 3.5-4" of needle harder to get inside my spine....

Im sore now, and swelling, keeping the ice on it, and hoping this is it..... hoping I can be ME again soon.

THATS IT... WE hit it so aggressive, I maxed the "healthy" amount of steroids that they are willing to inject into me.... before causing adverse effects.

Now, its just a matter of my torn hip and if it needs surgery, or if I will be told that I can return with the tear.

Well on Friday I got an email from my attorney with a copy of a letter from one of my original injury Doctors.

I stopped seeing that Doctor when he told me, I need to find something else to do in life, cause I will never get better.

He said, Im as good as Im gonna get, about 1 year ago..... Im way better now, and I was not willing to accept that then,

or ever. Now for the kicker, we requested a written report from him stating what he had said back then and he sent us

back a note saying that he received a copy of the shady Insurance company Doctor who said there is nothing wrong with

me and how he fully agrees. He goes on to say that my Doctor who has been working hard at getting me better is beneath

himself and the shady Doctor and what he says shouldn't even matter. Only the SHADY Dr and my old Dr are right that

there is nothing wrong with me... and to prove it he says "this is evident since Mr Hanna has not returned to see me."

YOU MOTHERFUKER!!! I DIDN'T RETURN BECAUSE YOU GAVE UP ON ME AND I DIDNT< I WANTED TO GET BETTER AND YOU WASHED YOUR HANDS. I LEFT BECAUSE I LOVE BEING A COP, AND I REFUSED TO GIVE UP.

Im not sure what the fuck Ive done in this life time to be surrounded by so many game playing liars, who at one time or another I had trusted with my health... Guess my wallet wasn't big enough..

Oh yeah, and to top it off.. that letter cost $400 !

The surgeon that recommended a bi-level disc replacement said that even if I chose against it I still needed to come see him every 3 months to show that I was still being "treated" and therefore "not well". Only problem with that was he was only interested in treating one area of my back not both. Well they both hurt, so what's the point of going under the knife for a chance at partial pain relief? No thanks. Not to mention the doctors visits consisted of me losing an entire days pay, 3 hours of driving, 2 hours of waiting, then 5 minutes of shooting the shit, then the copay of $75. I stopped going after the 3rd visit because I felt it was a waste, but I'm not better.

So I guess in our case, not going = WE'RE HEALED!!!!

The whole system is shady.

And to top it all off... I get to meet a new Doctor for the Insurance Company 2moro.

Yup... at noon, I have to go see a NEW Independent Medical Examination Doctor for the insurance company. The is the equivalent to the SHADY Dr that originally said there is nothing wrong with me.

Funny how he can be so independent , but he is paid for by the law office representing the Insurance company...

Worst part is.... Im feeling better, I want to get back out there... My hip is still torn and needs to be fixed, but all of these games they are playing are keeping me from getting the surgery and getting better... meaning that I will fight fight fight... and either be forced back with the torn hip... or they will say to get it fixed, and I will have another 3-6 months out... when I could be handling it.

Soooo, Im sure I mentioned this before... but about 3 months ago... one of our Officers got hurt at the middle school... He claims he was taking an unruly 14 year old to the ground when he hurt his "carpul tunnel" and his elbow... YEAH...I WROTE THAT.

Surveliance shows that the 14 year old took him to the ground, but whatever, Im not here to say who was a pussy and who wasnt...

What I am here to say is... the Officer was a cop in a neighboring boro when I started 12 years ago.... and when he worked there, he used to wear an elbow brace and a wrist brace..... Hmmmmmm.... fast forward to when he got hired with my dept 10 years ago..... Multiple times he called off with elbow and wrist issues.... SO what does that tell you... PRE-EXISTING condition........

Now again, Im not arguing that issue, because case law has shown that pre existing condition is moot when a person gets hurt....

HERE IS WHERE I HAVE AN ISSUE.... Last night at the twp meeting, one of our twp commisioners is quoted as saying...

"we need to discuss one of the Police Officers and awarding him a commendation... for getting hurt in the line of duty while avoiding a critical situation like SANDY HOOK...."

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME~!!!!!! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!!! HE "gets hurt" with injuries he has had for over 12 years.... but no question on that. His 6'7" ass gets fucked up by a 14 year old.... and he is on his way to RETIRING with a full pension and they want to give him a fucking award!!!!!

Im about to throw up Im so fired up!

Hmmmmmm.... fast forward to when he got hired with my dept 10 years ago.....

Bull shit

That's bullshit at its best, good God... May I recommend writing out a cliffnote version of what you'd like to say to him tomorrow? Might help to 1) not forget any points you'd like to cover, but also 2) keep your cool knowing that you have a logical presentation of your facts.

For sure man, it's a trick I learned a few years back cuz I used to get way too heated when trying to argue with someone over some BS. I learned I could get my point across much better and without losing my cool if I sat down the night before and thought it all out, wrote it out and worked on it, then used it as my guide while making my point in person.

Anytime brother! I'm like 99.9% sure at this point that my wife and I will be there. We're already starting to plan to budget for it and she's going to do her best to make sure we can get there. She said that'll be my birthday present (August baby here haha) :D

Well, I met my new Doctor today.... He is pretty cool.

Started off by telling me the last Doctor had alot of good things to say about me... and the last Doctor wanted him to know that Ive been going through alot with this injury and the associated BS.....

So, I think we are off to a great start.

I did... and when I woke up today... it was gone...

He said its expected that I may have flare ups and that is why he will not release me yet... that and the hip issue is still not resolved. However he did prescribe me an at home TENS UNIT to use.

Those units are fun! :( I'm glad the pain was gone when you got up! Sounds like your new doc is pretty cool. I hope he gets you right.

Yes, I was happy also... I actually had such a difficult time falling asleep because of the pain... and I was distraught that I was doing so much better, and that I thought it had relapsed.

He also gave me some medicated pads to put on my back to see if they help also.

Its and small shock treatment unit. It sends electric current through an area of the body where the electrodes are placed, It helps muscle to relax and release tention. It also helps dull and block pain receptors.

Ooh ok, in a non-painful shock I hope? Sounds like it should help you out a lot though, Larry. Sounds like this guy's already trying to take better care of you than the previous doctors.

It can be painful, if not used correct, It great for friends that pass out to early, It can work like a stun gun, if you know where to put the electrodes. LOL

For the most part, they are great and help cronic pain alot.
