I don't think this has been asked yet.... What do you all do to pay for all the modifications to your cars?

I am a Sales Manager at NAPA Balkamp. We buy and redistribute automotive parts and accessories into the 6000 NAPA Auto Parts Store's throughout the US. I specifically manage a sales group that sells High Performance parts and Truck Accessories though NAPA. Believe it or not most of the parts on my cars were obtained through my work.

professional unemployed bum

I used to work IT but after 9 jobs since graduating college in 2003, i'm pretty well burned out of IT (oh and i have about 15 months of non consecutive unemployment during that time as well)

After getting laid off at the end of june i havent exactly been rushing to find something else since ive been making $290/wk after taxes on unemployment, have $0 debt, and monthly bills of around $130 ($55 student loan and car insurance is $447 every 6 which i pay all at once, comes due next month and averages out to $75/mo) since ive been living at home since feb 07 i have managed to pay off all my credit cards ($10k or so which my dad gave me part of my moms life insurance for) and my student loan ($6600 when i made the final lump payment, this i saved up for) and have managed to put a little over $12k in the bank so i'm doing ok for a while

so now i just sit around and ponder life, lol...

i don't know if i ever want to go back to corporate america

Hoping to get back into college soon! I wanted to be a Registered Dental Hygienist and I was going to school to be that, and than I changed to Business Management... took off a few semesters, and now I really need to get back into it before too many years go by.

Worked in the auto industry since I have had a job. Started being the bitch stocking shelves/helping install and fix plows/brake lathe/everything at NAPA... Eventually learned some shit about shit, and then went to a 2 year GM tech (ASEP) school. Was a GM tech for awhile but the pay is crap, so Im now in the process of getting something much better going.

Since then I have been doing side jobs from my garage/driveway to finanace running my own plow setup this season + the bills + mods (see my other thread, about picking up a truck). I have the option to run two lists for a friends father OR plow for my city this year. Hope to make some decent bank back with the truck and hopefully find a small lot with a garage somewhere to start a small used car dealership. So you can say I will be a sleazy car sales guy pretty soon also :D

With any kind of luck, next year sometime the lot will be a reality and I will be working on the used cars I buy (if they need it) and not other peoples heaps :D

well thats about to end. the extension i got expires next week (or rather i run out of money in the unemployment account) it was $3332 or so when it started and then when that ran out in ~ 10.5 weeks i got a $1661 extension. i'm not sure what i'm gonna do now, but at my current amount of savings vs monthly bills i'm not exactly desporate. FWIW i was making $17/hr at my last job (july 07-june 08) as a field tech for HP but i was getting really tired of it since they were having me drive some 200+ mi a day (i was hired for my local area but then the calls stopped coming in for my area so they were having me drive to naperville/downers grove all the time which is about 100 mi away, and with a stop for parts, and dealing with traffic, it took at least 2.5 hrs to drive that 100 mi)
