Are you refilling it with o2 or argon? I bought used tanks and had to get them certified before I could refill them. National welder will inspect your tank for cheap, sometimes free if you talk right lol

they look for leaks, check the valves, check for rust etc. if you can get the tank to NW first, have them look it over before you buy it.
My argon tank has a dated inspection tag on it.

They most likely will test it. The places here will not fill a tank or exchange a tank unless its been checked by them before. They want to make sure theres no corrosion inside and that the integrity is still there.. Most tanks floating around are from the 90's and 80's still. Least the ones I get.
Best thing to do would to get a tank from them. They make you pay for the tank upfront, or most of the cost as a payment to make sure you just don't walk off with their tank. Then when its empty bring it back and they will swap it out for a full one. Best way to go about it IMO.

I'm assuming this is for a OA torch. You could check craigslist for tanks or welding kits. Most times if the tank still has gas in it, it will be ok. If you find a kit or a tank, they should check it for free or under 40 bucks. I think its called a hydrostat test but I'm %100 on that. Also look for stickers on the tanks with local gas distributors on them. Then you can pick up the tank from some dude on Craig list and swap it out at the place it came from. Most times the seller wont know just how much the tanks are worth.
