Auto or six speed??? Auto = I'm not sure. Six speed = No as I've done it before.

6 speed is much much harder to do. I had to ram my engine/trans up into the cowl and lower my k-member. PITA.

ON an auto you dont have to drop the pan either. I pulled my pan completly out to change the oil pump and i had to drop the k member and jack the motor up some. THe motor mount bolts work perfectly to hold the k member about 6 inches lower to.
you shouldnt have to do all that though just to change a gasket i would think though.

All I had to do was unbolt one motor mount and slightly lift that side (passenger) of the motor. Then I worked the new gasket around the pan with the pan dropped only, not fully pulled out.

I just did this a week ago. Huge PITA. Yes, you have to remove the inspection cover. I ended up removing both motor mounts and jacking up the engine as far as it would go. Even then, it was a pain to slide the gasket around the crank splash guard.
I needed my brother's help on it. Slide it in through the front with one side sitting on the pan like it will when you are done. Once the back of the gasket reaches the back of the pan, you will have to slowly work the other side of the gasket between the splash guard and the side of the oil pan. If I had to do it again, I would probably drop the k-member a little. Don't forget to remove the dipstick.

Slide gasket over pan to where bolt holes are and then work it over the pan lip between pan and block.

depending on what kind of exhaust you are running you might have to drop the Y pipe to get the pan down. We did on my car with stock exhaust
