So I noticed my tread was separating on my WS6 so I decided to order some new tires.
I went and they didnt have my size except for some crappy tires and some Falkens, I wanted some continentals
So I ordered them and put a deposit down.
They came in a week later and I went in, the guy who was at the front counter that helped me was being a complete dick. He was making faces like he didnt want to help me, and finally He asked me to sign and said the total would be 883, so I told him, No I looked online and the total out the door price was 883 and I already paid 50 bucks, so he started to argue with me that no I was wrong, finally I said look I have the receipt in the car, and almost as if magically he found my payment in the computer.

So I pay and my wife said that when I turned around to slide my card through the reader he started mocking me.

So whatever, I left the car there and went to the shops in the center.

I come back and the car is finished, and I look at them, not too closely which was my mistake, and they look good so I come home

Later it was bugging me that they could have taken out my expensive valve stems and put in those rubber pieces of crap, so I go out and look at them, and guess what, they stole my Chrome pontiac logo valve stem caps.

A guy that works there has a Silver GTO, and the caps I bought are these, so Im thinking he might have snagged them for himself
5719

So I dont normally drive the WS6 round town, I use my Jeep for that, and this morning I was outside and I saw that one of my wheel studs is broken off, and they didnt even tell me

I am so pissed.

I already know they are going to give me problems, so luckily I have pictures of the wheels and tires from before and in one of them you can clearly see my valve stem caps and I have the receipt so I printed them out

As far as the broken stud I know they are going to say its normal and they do that, but we all know that studs break because of lazy techs who just slam the nuts on with their impact, not putting them on with their hands to finger tight, then snugging them all up with the impact then loosening them with the torque wrench and bringing them to their proper spec

its all laziness and lack of training

they think their torque sticks always work

Anyways I am in a really bad mood and needed to vent

Man , in community college our teacher told us he would kick our ass if he saw us use torque sticks instead of a lug wrench.

I would call a higher up like a district person. That will get you results and say that you will never bring your car there and ask if they have a shop that is more respectable in the area.

I found the CEO's email and I shot him an email. A while ago I had problems with FTD delivering flowers overseas to my wife (then she was just my fiancee) after a few months of them ignoring me, I found the CEOs email online as well as the head customer service person, and shot them an email.

within the week, they had refunded my money, and gave me a 50 dollar gift card.

So I guess Im going to have to do this again.

is dicount tire part of the TBC corporation? as in, associated with tire kingdom? if so, go to the regional manager, and i promise you will get EVERYTHING taken care of. i worked for tire kingdom for over a year, and anytime a customer wasn't happy, our managers had to break their backs to fix whatever it was they weren't satisfied with. if they called corporate, it was a good chance someone would get fired.

having worked there, i know first hand you do not have to have ANY previous experience with cars to get a job. there isn't even "training." they show you have to use the machines and your on your own. and the torque sticks... a freaking joke. most techs just use the impact by its self until its tight, which isn't much better, but at least the lug won't just fall off. if you want things done right, you have to find a VERY knowledgeable shop that has been around for a long time, or just do it yourself whenever possible (which is probably the best idea and easiest solution)

to be fair a good set of torque sticks that are ONLY used to tighten will work very well if not abused, but in a place like that, it would be one set fort he whole place

So I went in yesterday after I got off of work

I got myself really worked up before I went so I would be pissed and slightly unreasonable, haha

I walked in and I said straight away, I need to speak with the manager, the guy tells me well I am an assistant manager, I told him, my name and said no I need to speak with the manager, so he says, oh yes sorry sir he has been trying to contact you.

So the manager comes out and starts apologizing, and he runs to his office and he has the email I wrote to the big guy in his hands. So he tells me they have the caps in the back on the wall. and gives them to me, and starts to apologize about breaking the stud and not telling me, and they would have fixed it in the first place

BUT in the past they would always blame it on me, but anyways they sent me to a brakes place to have the stud repaired for free.

He started to apologize for the rudeness

So win win.

Awesome man, it's good to hear shit like this working out for the customer

honestly it will work for you 90% of the time if you learn to complain the right way

I read an article not too long ago giving tips, and so far when I have gone toe to toe with companies that wronged me, I come out on top

but usually my first action is to complain to the manager, then if that doesnt work I skip over the regional managers, and usually you can find the email of the board members or CEO online

I found the discount tire guy (Tom Englert) pretty fast, when I complained to FTD it took me a while to get his email, I found his name then the format they put their emails in and sent an email to all the variations till I hit the right one.

it takes a little work, but if you complain the right way, it pays off

Just goes to show the customer is always right. That assistant manager should have his hands slapped, for sure.

Glad to hear it worked out for you! That price seems a little high for continentals.

883, that is with the road hazard and tax everything out the door
not to mention 540AA Z rated tires that are rated for snow
The cost each tire was 164

I am really liking these tires, they are really smooth over rough roads and surprisingly sticky.

awesome to hear they did what they needed to. 99% of the time with a large company or corporation, they will treat a customer with more value than even a store manager. this is especially true with tire companies, and i have seen instances where a customer complained about things that were not our fault, pre-existing conditions, and even where the customer said he saw our floor jack scratch his vehicle in a place where it was physically impossible for it to reach they way he showed us it happened, and have it go their way (got his vehicle repainted)
