Last weekend I went back to my hometown and rode out to the local meet with some friends. I ended up racing a '99-'00ish Mustang GT. Said he had intake, LT's, ORx-pipe dumped, 285 tires in the back, and 4.30 gears. He had a check engine light from his OR x pipe.. but i don't know if that hinders performance THAT much..
With those mods I was ready to lose a close race, but he stayed very modest and said all he'd do is lose traction with the 4.30's on the streets.
We went twice from a dig. He grabbed pretty nicely compared to what he was saying. From the launch to when I went into second I only gained about quarter of a car length, then my 2nd gear pulled real hard and put him at my rear bumper..
3rd pulled just slightly on him and I let off at the top of 3rd and him a little closer than 1.5 lengths back
The second run went just the same.

headers must make a BIG difference on those stangs...
I walked an 01 with intake, exhaust, 4:10's, clutch, and dr's by atleast 2 cars every run on the street back in FL with my bone stock '93, even gave him the hit on two of the runs. Best $50 I ever made:D

Yeah, the Mustang's strength is more in its weight. And when a car throws a code for o2's its not a big hinderence at WOT. Once you hit WOT the car is running of presets, from what I understand. This race doesn't suprise me too much. My buddy has an 04 with almost the exact same mods as me and I get him by a good fender maybe more. I do have 4.10's and he's running 3.27's. However my car is running really rich AF's and he just got his tuned. When weighed he put down 3180 lbs and I did 3440 so yeah, the gears were the difference as we dynoed withing 15 hp of each other. Me make just a bit more. We know when I get a good tune even when he gets his gears installed its over with. Game over man.
Good kill, man. Keep the 'stangs in their place!

I thought a check engine light wouldnt have made any difference since that is just for the rear o2s and all it does is tell you that you dont have a catalytic converter???
Anyways, good kill.
Who wastes their time on Mustangs....really? J/K!Winning is winning...doesnt matter if its an inch or a mile.

Had a newer GT hitting me up on the freeway. Too bad it was traffic time. Would have been a good race.:|
My buddy has an 03 GT with just an x-pipe and catback... and he persists that we line 'em up. Its probably a 14.0-.2 car and I've tried explaining the outcome to him but he still wants to run 'em.
Just another notch on the bedpost I guess.
