It sucked, it wrecked my day, totally. I was delivering on this tiny road in Williamsville called North Cayuga. It is a short dead end street that leads straight into a small park (where there are deer). As I was heading near the end, there is a small private road called Millrace North where I usually turn around. Right as I was about to turn onto Millrace this 6-point buck comes flying out of the woods and heads over to my right towards the condos on Millrace. I turned into the road, and saw this buck sort-of had himself cornered into this ladies front door area. There is a 6-foot high spiked fence all around and a 3 foot opening that allows entry. The deer panicked and started jumping up, trying to get over the fence instead of just going back out through the opening. Well.......he ended up making it most of the way over the fence, but the spikes on the top of the fence went into his abdomen and he literally impaled himself. None of his hooves were on the ground, all of his weight was pushing down onto 2 or 3 of the spikes. I called 911 right away, and they dispatched the Animal Control Unit. The deer was still alive but I could see a little bit of blood, so who knows, maybe he made it, I didn't stick around. I was sick to my stomach.
I am a UPS driver BTW. The deer was a whitetail deer.

Wow. If it were me I'd probably feel bad for the damn thing. Its probably easier to take a bullet to the chest rather than getting stabbed by a damn fence.

I will guarantee he didn't make it. Shame, but those things happen.

wow that's sad... my dad told me he clipped a cow's rear end with his semi and basically the cow's butt exploded and obviously the cow died... I can imagine its in the same case as this, it sounds funnier than it looked

Not trying to sound cold hearted or anything but that sounds like dinner to me.
I would have done the humane thing and stopped its suffering, if it was likely to die anyway, and I would have had him for dinner

That's why I called 911. The animal control officer was there in about 10 minutes. It's not like I could just walk up to the animal and beat him senseless, and toss him into the big brown truck and head back to the plant.

I don't have a problem with an animal dying, per se, but it sucks when you know they suffer.

I hit a deer about a month ago in the firebird going about 35 and broke all its legs. THe mother fucker flew at least 20 feet high and landed on the side walk. Me and my buddy tried to cut its throat but it hoofed him, so we gave up and called the cops and he shot it in the head.

That is exactly how I feel.

Seeing the deer on the fence was probably very gross and a little scary.
