Uhhh, the LTx platform is very alive and well if that's what you're asking. I'm currently in the market for a head that will support 600 RWHP on a 396 and am looking at the 210 AFRs, Competition Ported, or CNC'd Trick flows from AI. I dont want a huge head, I want to keep low end tq, port velocity, etc for road racing as well as the street and occasional drag racing.
Trouble is you can use any SBC head and have it converter. So if you get really serious, you can build a big power LTx just as easy as you can an SBC with the exception of the ci limitations.
The 23* market is going to make you hard pressed to bring out something better than what is already there for any less money.

Thanks for the help!

You sure can. There are several places that will do it for a couple 100 bucks. Brodix will do it with any of their heads.

The going rate is around $300. Advanced Induction, Clayton Racing, Brodix (on their own stuff) can all do the work.
gregrob: go update the fastest lists on LS1tech!
Thanks!

well assuming you could buy something out of the box ready to go...
Does the market exist?

There will always be a need... demand is another story though.
Look at the big cube Dart LTX block that almost made it. Some bitched that it wasn't needed, others (like myself) wanted to just be able to go beyond 383-396ci.
If a killer LTX head made its way to the market and it was a large step above all other heads... I'd buy it.
Currently it just seems like all available heads are pretty damn close to each other to warrant purchasing another set.
Just my opinion and I don't know jack shit. :shiner:

I thought LTx already had AFR heads?

The biggest head out there right now ready to bolt on and go is the Comp ported AFR 227cc Eliminator. It demands 383 cubes (at least) and either a shitload of rpm for N/A or a turbo/supercharger.

^^ The AFR 227's are sweet, but require a bit more of a bling valvetrain than the other heads they offer.
I'm running the competition ported AFR 210's. I'm liking them, but if I had the money/time, I'd switch over to the CNC ported Trick Flow 215's.

I have a set of the AFR 227's sitting here. They require either shaft rockers or special stud rockers with a little offset. AFR sells the offset stud type rockers and they are $300 iirc, so that's not really "bling" or anything. My friend runs AFR 227's on his sbc and just uses a regular rocker on it. Over time they will require readjustment, but his car is mainly track only. I think your Comp ported 210's would be better than a AI TFS 215, unless you are running pre-eliminators.

^^ Nope, Eliminators here!
The more I think about it, the more I realize that my heads are probably not the bottleneck for more power, but more likely my cam. It was LE spec'd, but seems pretty mild compared to other folks' blower cams.
