i dont have a garage this winter due to moving home to save cash, go back to school, and pay off student loans. my questions is for they guys/gals that winter store their rides outside. how do u do it? detail car then cover with car cover then tarp? a buddy hooked me up with some stock ls1 camaro wheels that all be using for winter storage wheels. ill be taking the zr1's off next weekend and cleaning them up and tossing them in my small storage unit. i know the typical storage things just curious how u guys cover your cars. the car has never seen snow or salt and i would like to somehow keep the under chassis looking new without a garage

well what i did do one year was yes, clean the hell out of it, i had the stocker wheels on it at the time, so it sat on those-i cracked the windows like an inch, had a dri z air thing in there, put a cover over it, then a tarp. it was outside my apartment building so i went out every couple weeks or so and took the covers off and let her breathe, and also started it up and let it idle for a few.
I know this thread is old but meh, lol.
I have a tarp underneath my car, and parked it in a carport. I check up on it every so often too.

i put my on stock ls1 wheels, changed the oil, detailed the car, checked the radiator fluid temp level, unhooked the batter. then put a car cover on and then a tarp. tied her all down. in march, ill uncover her, do a oil change then let the street have it again for another season

All of my cars sit outside. If you take care of your paint it wont hurt it at all.

My car was a daily driver for 5 years so it did not get stored. Starting in 04 to 09, its was parked in my driveway under a 4 layer car cover. When it snowed, I would go out and remove all the snow off the cover. I would start it up every few weeks and let it run. In 09, I bought a house with a garage where the car sleeps comfortably every night. I still start it every 2 weeks. If its descent weather like yesterday (55* here) I take it out and drive it a little.

a great way I've found to prevent rust over the winter is using Fluid Film you can get it at any john deer place or tractor supply. It's like WD-40 on steroids its amazing!

I put mine in park, make sure the widows are up, lock the doors, and wait for the snow to melt! Jk i'm in a no garage and to many vehicles situation! My camaro occupies the trailer so my ta is left to the elements!

Maybe the TA should go in the STACKER in the off season.....?
