So I've heard that the LT1 hydraulics make up the difference when a flywheel is cut/resurfaced making it impossible to cut it too much, but I've also heard that it is very possible to have it cut too much causing engagement/disengagement issues.
So, which is it?

50 thousanths is the max. I was told by my machinest you can shim it and cut another 50 thousanths, but I wouldn't.

But how much can it be cut in total? I thought it was cut down 50 thousandths each time.

It depends on how badly hot-spotted or warped the flywheel surface is. It may only need a .008" cleanup, or it may need all .050". Just depends, it's exactly like turning brake rotors. I've turned rotors that only needed about .010", and I've turned some that took over .080" total to get cleaned up.

You will have engagement issues if its cut too much. I dont like cutting them any...
Just go buy a new one, for the price you can get them it makes cutting them not really worth it anyway.

IMHO it is disposable. one use only. They never really work right after they have been worped ;)

if you are warping flywheels you are slipping the thing way too much
