Hy guys I went to the track for the first time with my 94 z28 M6 with slp intake , edelbrock shorties, 3.9 rear end, airfoil, and some minor mods. Tires are cooper 3weeks old just 245/50-16.normaal tires @ 22psi.I launched the car @ 2000 rpm, that resulded in a HUGE wheelspin, when I shited to 2ed the car kept spining and went sideways so much i had to let go of the gas otherwise I would end up in the other lane, as sson it went straight I massed the gas to fininsh the race. I only got 2 runs this is the best :
r/t.....307
60'......2.619
330......7.643
1/8......11.195
mph.....71.15
1000.....14.091
1/4.......16.488
mph...94.38

Help me out guy what am I doing wrong here. Thanks btw stock suspension

maybe launch at a lower RPM and if those are street radial tires get that PSI up to recommend spec 32-35psi i think, 22psi is way too low for a street tire. at that psi the center of the tire is actually buckling in and you are getting less rubber on the ground. also are you smoking them in the box? i have always had more luck with just a quick spin to clean them off, smoking them can over heat them = worse traction.

I always wonder why guys even bother to go to the dragstrip with a street tire. You aren't going to get them to hook, ever. You "might" get a decent run if you baby it out of the hole, but the ET will still be compromised by the soft launch. Street tires do not like to be heated like a drag radial or a slick. Drive around the water box, do a quick spin to get any water off of them and head to the line. Head to a swap meet and pick up a set of extra rims in 16" size and buy some Hoosiers, or better yet get a set of 15" draglites or pro-stars.

What are some good slicks that fit under my car? I dunno that many about those tires, what size do u guys recommend me?

I run a 15x8 weld draglite wheel that requires a little trimming of the brake caliper with a grinder. I run Hoosier QTP's in 27x 11.50 x 15. You won't get tires like that to spin at all, they will dead hook. You can run a shorter tire too if you like. They make a 26" tall QTP.

i'm willing to bet just a set of drag radials on the wheels you have now will hook up just fine. i'm putting out a good bit more power than you (on nitrous) and my 275/40/17 BFG drag radials hook up for me just fine. with a 16" tire you should have even better traction than i do with the taller sidewall. i don't see a need for track only wheels yet for you

x2 for the QTP, have the same set up for the track as for a street tire. i use a bfg drag radial 315/35/17

id look into a 26" drag radial that will fit the stock 16" wheels

Look into some nitro DRs

Honestly, with the mods you have, I'd just work on getting your 60' down first and learn how to launch it instead of buying DR's. Sure, they'll help... But you should be running at least low 14's on street tires. I'd try to tackle a lower 60' before just opting for better tires.

Try slipping the clutch more and get some dedicated drag radial.
