Went to the track yesterday with my 1995 LT1 Camaro.... Occasional street duty. Nitrous pro flow plate system. 383 cubic inch LT1, AFR 227's, single plane, solid roller, shaft rockers, TH400 and a Moser 9"......
Had a match race with a 408 ci LQ9 iron block LS1 with an NX direct port system. He has ETP All pro heads, beck sheetmetal intake... seriously beautiful piece...... Unfortunately I lost the race but not for any lack of power. I had to save the car instead of trying to win 500 bucks....
We posted a 6.06 1/8 mile and I shut the car down at 800', got on the brakes hard and ran a 9.54@130 earlier in the night shaking the car down for the match race..... And the tune was very conservative on this pass. My tuner told me full bore and with less delay that the car is capable of 5.80's...... and probably 9.05-9.10 on current jetting....
Made some timing adjustments and went out there for the grudge and then this happened....

39MB download on a very fast server.... and it's in HD as well.....
This is also with limiters on the car set to allow like 3" of travel...... car is MAKING some serious power..... going to look into some more adjustments and possibly a switch to a powerglide to avoid the antics on the line..... Thanks Nitrous Pro Flow and to Madman once again for the SYA bars..... It barely touched the header collectors, just a few dings, but did a nice job bending the madman rack which I think can be fixed... and the SYA bars were completely destroyed in the fray. I need to get the front wheels spun to make sure they aren't bent..... I lost 500 bucks but saved my 50,000 racecar.....

That didn't look good at all. If you do go to a glide I think you won't regret it. Unless you want to make some motor passes. With the converter I got it is great on the jug but feels real slow on the motor. Still pulls 1.55's on motor without lifting a tire.

I would have liked to see you put that 408 on the trailor empty handed. What did he end up running? You guys talked about a rematch?

Yeah a possible switch to a glide is in the works..... HOWEVER we are going to get some more testing with the madman limiters on there.... We haven't tried the tightest setting on the adjustment bar thinking it would just blow the tires off..... so we're gonna try the limiters at the tightest setting so the front a-arms can't move at all..... if that works I can keep the TH400 cuz it's pretty damn durable....

Funny thing is I think he blew it up. If you listen to the video you can hear him pedaling it.... when i was going down the track after the wheelie his car backfired bad and launched sumthing across the track... after that on the return road they had to send the trailer out to get him... word was that he couldn't get it started... so I think they blew it up..... He can use my 500 bucks for new pistons... :D:D:D:D Mine still runs...... LOL
FWIW, he ran 9.7@133.... we had that ass covered.....

Nice launch! Glad everything worked out but at least you have video (and dang good video) proof of what caused it too.

Damn bro! You gave it too much off the line. Need to bring it in a little slower. Maybe delay about .6 or so. Tighten up the front, also adjust the torque arm front adjustment for the instant center to help hit softer. Give me a call today.

Yeah the car seems fine... I have to inspect it thoroughly tho.... we'll be good to go in a few days....

Yeah we're toying with the idea of turning the bottle on at a higher RPM than the launch RPM.... Just a touch higher so it's like a bit in time delay.... I'm not using a progressive so we have to get around it somehow... We're going to try tightening the limiters to max adjustment first... If it blows the tires off we'll retard timing until it hooks....
If that don't work we'll kick the juice on at a higher RPM than launch. I leave on the brake at 4K... we'll turn the spray on at like 4400 or so.... Should only take a tenth or two at most to flash past 4400.... kinda like a built in time delay..
Tony PM me your phone # again. My cell phone is MIA.... lost it in virginia and i have to rebuild my phone listing from scratch..... pm me and i'll call you from home... :D

Outlaw ,why not invest in a FJO or similiar product. They are easy to use and at a good cost.

the way I have my system setup (engine mgmt and nitrous setup) can't take advantage of one.... But we do have a way to delay the nitrous that we think can be effective..... we have a few options before wheelie bars enter the picture.....

How long are your lines? Make them LOOONNNGGGER :D

which lines??? the nitrous lines?????
I tightened the limiters so the front suspension can't move at all and we're going to go back out and test once I get my car realigned....
and my steering rack bracket unbent....

What about wheelie bars?
OutlawZ
10-28-2008, 07:01 PM
many f-bods are well into the 7's without wheelie bars....
So I just want to pursue what they are doing instead of going to wheelie bars...... take a look at Troy Pirez' third gen.... 632 ci BBC with 4 units on it.... 4.85@149 in the 1/8 mile... no wheelstands and 1.2 60' times..... on radials no less...... wheelie bars aren't needed just yet..... just more tuning time and more suspension adjustments...

Good answer. I was going to have brackets put on the fabbed rearend just in case. But that is a couple of pounds I'm living without.

We have a few ideas that will hopefully let us get around wheelie bars..... I have the limiters set on full tight right now and i'm just hoping that my car will hook without ANY help from the front end.... It's gonna put a hell of a load on the torque arm tho..... Might also put a SLIGHT delay in the spray as well... Like .1 before it comes on... right now it's immediate upon t-brake release....

gald to hear damage wasn't any worse.
as far as bars go, nothing wrong with training wheels is there ;) i mean once you get it sorted out you can take them off and sell them :) just my .02 .
why can't you run a progressive controller? I have run one for the last couple of years and love it! plus I get full life out of a set of slicks with the use of the controller, lol!!!
i finally broke down and bought a set of new et drags after 180 passes, they were 3 years old. ha ha!
