Basically:

Aluminum = lighter (less mass to throw around, easier on the valve train but not as strong)
Steel = stronger (weighs more, but will stand up to higher spring pressures)

Chrome-Moly (A.K.A. Comp Pro Magnum) = best of both worlds. Light AND strong. :D

I have seen a few aluminum rockers crack at the bottom of the bushing surface

I wouldnt use them in a street car that you dont want to tear into to check for needle bearings and chunks of metal

I use to have this post on another forum bookmarked, but I cant find it, basically it was this guys engine that got trashed after 2 or 3 of his Crane Gold rockers gave up on him, and it wasnt even that extreme of a setup

like I said before, I would be very hesitant to use aluminum here, aluminum fatigue curves are much lower when compared to steel

most of the steels I have seen used in Roller rockers are considered superalloy steels (i.e. 17-4PH 15-5PH) and have very high ductility and allowable stresses.

There is a guy over here that got both selling, only thing if I use the Aluminum ones I have to replace the stud for it to fit, the iron ones are just bolt on, seems they came out of a corvette LT4

Comp Ultra Pro Magnums. Dont use somebody elses used junk.

Buy good rockers and be done with it. FAR too many people skimp on the valvetrain and have headaches and under-performing setups to show for it...

X2 and FYI the rockers pictured above and not Crane Gold race rockers. The Comp Pro Mags are a great choice as well.

I didnt say they were crane, but the pictures i previously had bookmarked were crane gold race

that is how the crane design usually fails, a stress crack at the bottom of the pivot

and it doesnt matter if they are crane, scorpion or china brand, they are all the same design and varying types of aluminum
