You will get better responses to this question if its in the LT1/LT4 Engine section. I moved it for you and sent you a PM about where you can find it.

There really is no easy way to do it, sometimes I find the best way to actually do the passengers side is to get on the motor. Now Im not a huge guy, so I am able to do this without destroying anything.

What would help more is if you supplied us with the brand of headers that you have, most are different designs and some are easier than others to do. Some also sell a small spark plug socket for our cars that is shorter than normal, this would also aid in removing them but I have no trouble with the normal sized socket.

thanks i wasnt quite sure where to put it, i have hooker long tubes, i was just using a 5/8" socket about the size of the plug, i was trying from the bottom of the car, figured i had more space. i did try on top but couldnt get in there

Yeah for sure its a tight job, no matter what you do really. I had to use a different combo of wratchets/wrenches for every one on the passenger side to do mine the last time. The drivers side is pie no matter which way you attack it :D

If you seriously cant get in there, and think you could benefit from a shorter socket then look on Ebay... They are all over the place.

I tend to like using just an open end wrench to crack them lose and then take them out with my hands. Concentration helps me a TON, good luck.

Drivers side is a piece of cake. Be careful with the #5 plug as once when I was in a hurry I cracked a plug during the install. The passenger side I always remove the alternator and do #2 and #4 from the top. #6 and #8 from below. I use a regular length spark plug socket with a combination of a 3/8 ratchet, 4" ext, and a 13/16 gearwrench. Oh and I remove the rubber insert from the plug socket mainly just on the #5 hole.

Hope this helps!

i use a deep-socket that is about the size of a spark plug that has a 6-point end on it - allowing me to use a double ended wrench to turn it from below. If that doesnt work i use a small breaker bar and sometimes a universal joint w/extensions. Ive honestly never had to much trouble though, i can change em all in about 40 minutes.

Best way? Patiently. If you can't get it from the top, go at it from the bottom. Get used to hugging the K-Member too.

Passenger side = #2 and #4 from top, and #6 and #8 from bottom (removeing the starter seems to be the easiest way for me)

I do all of the from the top. I don't have any problems with #8, its just really tedious work on that plug. #6 is the bitch from me. I bought an AC Delco set with the open wrench and all the short spark plug sockets. Helps alot. When I didn't have that, I had to get #8 from the bottom.

I can get them all from the top pretty quick. I use the SLP short spark plug socket and a ratcheting box end (one of these http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00942480000P?vName=Tools&cName=Hand+Tools%2C+General+Purpose&sName=Wrenches). Makes them a breeze. Removing the alternator helps on #2, as said before.

i have a spark plug socket that is about 1/2" shorter, but still cant get it
i was told to get a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter to use a smaller wrench to get more clearance

I know I'm a noob digging up an old thread, but I performed a search and this is what it came up with.

I am getting the joy of changing plugs and wires on the car this weekend for the first time. I don't have LT's (stock manifolds), but I take it the process would be about the same? I have access to a lift if necessary.

with stock manifolds i got all of mine from below IIRC. The lift is a big help, be prepared to sweat, cuss and bleed a bit. The wires are a PIA withthe original looms and the alternator / PS pump need to come loose or off to route the wires behind the PS pump.

I get all from the top. Driver side is about 20min, and passenger about 35min. Use a open ended wrench, ratchet and socket. :D Want to buy ratcheting wrench, it would make it WAY faster on the passenger side.

K thanks, it's appreciated.

Any good aftermarket looms to look into?
