No matter what I absolutely could not hook in first gear. Second gear also always broke traction to the point of violent wheel spin.


At this point I am putting HP gain aside in favor of traction aids. Starting with drag radials. All in all I am pleased. I still have stock PCM spark timing and PE tables. All tuning I have done so far has been to the idle and part throttle driving so I am excited to see what she can really do once PE is dialed in and she hooks up :metal: hopefully not break the 10 bolt :no:


Any tips or suggestions?

Some drag radials and suspension mods will go a long way to help drop your 60' times. What mods do you have so far?

Practice should get his 60' down a fair bit as well. He shouldn't have any problem pulling 2.1's after a couple times at the track. The car probably has 13.5-13.6 in it as is.

Just got done reading through that after my post. Launching my 6 speed on street tires was pointless and I had alot more fun on some BFG drag radials. My clutch however did not. On steet tires you need to practice slipping the clutch off the line. or buy some real tires and hope it stays together.

Once you get that 60' down, you'll be mid 13's all day.

stock I could pull 2.0 60' times easy... but stock would spin off the line only if I launched the rpm's too high and I wouldn't break traction once she hooked up.... not anymore... she is a totally different beast now. I can't give more than 70% throttle in first and break traction at 100% throttle in second gear with the current tires.

I did data log the first and second run... I broke down the details so you guys can get an idea of what I'm talking about...


Pass 1 launch is as follows...

9.8% throttle @ 2250RPM clutch depressed. Tree lights... yellow yellow yellow green.
Clutch let out to 39% throttle then up to 75% throttle but traction broke so I let off to 43% throttle which let it hook back up. At this point I am at 20 mph, I then gently ramp up to 100% throttle which took place at 34 mph which is at 4250 RPM 3/4 of the usefulness of that gear was fighting to grip.
Shifted at 5350RPM Broke traction the instant I shifted to second gear. Verified by being at 46mph and accelerating to 70mph in .375 seconds. I let off to 30% throttle to let it hook up again. Finally gained traction at 55mph.
Shifted into 3rd gear at 5475RPM.
4th gear at 5625RPM.
top speed for run was 106mph.
