Does the alternator body ground itself to the accessory bracket via mounting? If so, could part of my low voltage (12.4 across battery while running) be caused by my powdercoated accessory bracket NOT having the metal exposed where the alternator touches? Could this be alleviated by adding a grounding strap from the alternator to say a manifold bolt, or a header bolt, or something?

Alternator was bench tested good. I'm having one rebuilt right now to a higher amp output and a full rebuild also.

How is your cable from the alternator to the battery?

It's good. A little old and crusty, but it was fine before.
