I was driving home the other night and saw a few cars in an old deserted small used car dealership, and there sat a 2003 Neon SRT-4. No body damage, interior was a bit dirty, but wasn't beat up or ripped at all. Nothing missing. The guy wants $4200 for it. There was a small sign inside that said "car not prepped for sale". Kelley blue book puts that car in FAIR condition (there's excellent, good, and fair) at $6,800. Excellent is right around $9,500.
Does anyone know anything about these cars? I'm considering finding out if there's something wrong with it, and possibly making it a fix-up/project car. It's something I could fix up and sell for a profit, or even keep myself and sell my daily driver.
Has anyone driven one, owned one, worked on one? I'm just looking for opinions. As far as my mechanical abilities, I'm definitely able to handle any repairs it might need to the drivetrain or otherwise.
For example, if the guy that owns this car doesn't know how to work on anything, and it broke the timing belt/chain and a piston smacked a valve, he might have gotten an estimate for like $3K or more to fix it. At that point, it might not be worth it to him. Whereas I could tear it down, have the head ported, polished, and have new valve guides installed, and could re-valve it and put a better cam in it and get it running again for like $1,500, and have an even higher-performing car than stock, ready to run a ton more miles.
Thoughts?

A friend of mine used to have a few quick ones.

Could possibly be a salvaged title? I'd call and find out,
