Well, I got my new C5 DD wheels with some Toyo 315 drag radials mounted last Thursday. That night, I took it out for a test. I did some dig launches on a dead street, only trying like 2.5k-3k rpm launch.. The next day driving around I notice a lot of loud clunking when I hit a bump. I thought my wheels/tires were hitting the bumpstops.. So I install some ARP wheel studs and 5/16" spacers (which I planned to do, anyhow).. I take it for another drive, and still a ton of loud clunking..

So today I look up under the car with the plan to tighten every bolt in the rear suspension that I see. and I find a busted torque arm... I never had these clunks until the first night with my 315's, so I guess it was it's time to go. I guess it's my time to go ahead and get a UMI tubular torque arm. Should I get an adjustable or not?

Oh, and before anyone says it. I plan to have the rear-end rebuilt with a new pinion seal this year

That generally happens if the bolts were loose at some time and driven around for a while til retightened, factory or non.....
I would get an adjustable unit weather you get UMI,BMR,Spohn its up to you

Also I think I'll do a stock length torque arm with the relocation bracket.. Any opposers?

I know its costing you money, but I have to say NICE!!!! :claps:

How do you like the Toyo DRs

I would go with the adjustable, you never know if you change plans with the car, and may end up needing it.

I love the Toyos! I've never had a 315, or a drag radial, so this is my first time with a real tire. I have not found an issue with traction yet! I remember a few weeks ago, I did a 40 roll against another car, 1st gear just spun like hell, 2nd gear spun and slid a bit before it grabbed. If I do a 40 roll now, it hooks like hell and goes! I feel the car torque twist when I hit 2nd gear now. I feel some SCF's needed soon.

Should I go with stock length and relocation bracket, or tunnel mount? Pretty much they'll both do the same thing, except the tunnel mount can be done a little cheaper..

Either way, tunnel mount or relocated mount will help traction....
If it was mine i would use a tunnel mount

if its a DD get the full length relocated arm... mine clunks, which i dont car nor does it bother me but other people hate the clunks... get whatever you prefer but that is the best bet

Either would be good get it off the tranny b4 that happens to it.

the tunnel mount is more for a drag car. its gonna add more vibration and noise to the car. if you dont have big plans for the car a stock length with a crossmember relocation mount should be fine

I vote for stock length with relocation bracket as well.

I vote for tunnel mount adjustable. I love my UMI unit. A unit with a driveshaft loop might not be a bad idea either.

I have the umi adjustable and I love it. I'm also using the relocation crossmember to take the stress of the tailshaft. But if I was to do it again I would get the umi adjustable ta with the tunnel mount bar and driveshaft loop. Is ground clearence an issue for you at all?

Any pics of the wheels on the car?? I'm thinking of getting these wheels and would love to see them on a t/a.

I would agree with removing the TQ arm from the transmission. I have the BMR TQ arm relocation mount to take the load off the tail-housing. I've got the 315/30/18 BFG drags. What are the tire specs for the Toyo's and how much do they cost ?
