Well I was taking my front bumper cover off and the bolts on the far outside holding the cover to the fender both twisted off. they were extremely rusty and it took almost no effort for them to break. So I was wondering if anyone has had this happen and what did they do about it? I guess now I will have to take that fender off to figure out what to do.
If that is the case do any of you have some tips on taking the fender off?

I'm trying to think of where you are talking about.. I had to take my front bumper cover and drivers side fender on my old Camaro before.

Its very easy to take the fender off. I cant remember off the top of my head where all the bolts are, but I do remember it wasnt hard at all. I found the hardest part about the whole thing was aligning the fender/bumper to look right. Maybe it was just hard for me to align it since some A-Hole decided it would be a good idea to blow a stop sign and pushed the frame in a little which I had to fix, but other than a little time and work, its not bad at all.

its right where the fender meets the bumper cover. it has 2 studs and then a plate with a bolt sandwiching them all together.

i called the dealer they said it was 30 bucks but he also didn't sound too sure of what i was talking about or what it was. i'm taking the fender off tomorrow and will see what i can find. I hope it just unbolts which you would think it does since it would be the first thing that become a pretzel if the corner was hit.

Check this link out. It shows how to take the fenders and bumper cover off. The link is about switching over from a 93-97 front clip to a 98-02 front clip. Its more info than needed, but it still shows how to take off the fenders/bumper.

I would almost thing that tightening the nuts on the studs still using that plate that it may hold it tight enough to where you wouldn't notice.. I guess try it and see.. Sorry about the bad luck man...

its all good i already got the fender off and the bracket is totally rusted in half. but I ordered one from GM is was like $28 so no biggie. the hardest thing will be aligning the fender, which i've never done (hoods yes, but fender no)

there was no need to remove the fender. Sounds like all you needed was a new bracket and new bolt. Wish I had seen this earlier.

oh its all good. im actually glad i took the fender off. its much easier cutting and working on the car without fenders. and i don't worry about scratching them up like i did last winter.
