It's bad enough I can hear a woosh of air when I shut the car down and the idle is pretty rough as a result. The only thing I can really think of that might leak that badly is the PCV valve. I have planned on replacing the EVAP purge solenoid as well but just haven't gotten around to it. While I'm doing that I need to replace an opti vent line. Until I can get someone knowledgeable to take a look with me I can't really isolate where the noise is coming from. Any input?

While its running, try moving (some wiggle action) around some of the lines to see if you can get them to whistle (like a sucking type noise).

Have you been able to isolate it at all? I just salved a leak I had. It was some hose over by the pcm that must have been attached to the a/c system some where after I removed it. Long story short I replaced header gaskets over it. Not a happy story.

My AC has a giant hole in one of the hoses next to the alternator. :(

I seems to be doing a bit better now. I replaced the EVAP purge solenoid and the valve along with the PCV valve and a few hoses. I noticed that I am missing the vent line from the intake to the opti which has a vacuum cap on the intake side. The hose connected to the PCV valve will leak when I wiggle it but not noticeably otherwise.

Also, I can't tell for sure if this line is supposed to be like this. It has two rubber hoses along it (only 3-4 inches long) and within those the plastic line is separated. It looks as if it was cut or ripped so I think that might be another leak. It's #1 in this diagram:

If you can visually see tubes that are cracked or have holes in them, they should be replaced. Especially if your trying to chase down a vacuum leak.

AND...if you cant source the leak. Go get some brake cleaner and spray it where you think leaks are. If the engine revs up then you found your leak. (This is because the cleaner gets the engine)

Yes, I feel dumb I forgot to add the most simple but effective way of finding a leak. :D

Yep the carb cleaner trick works well!

#1 there comes from the vapor cannister located in the drivers side rear fenderwell. It runs along with the two fuel lines from the fuel tank (on our caras originally).

Well I found the bad news. Among a few small leaks, the two lines coming out of my vapor canister are rotted to hell and a slight tug had them off the car completely. Unless I am missing something it looks like I need to drop the tank to reattach them on the other end and I don't think that's something I'm comfortable doing.

You said among other leaks, which other leaks did you find?

It's leaking a bit around the throttle body and also the line #1 I posted the diagram of. That line is also part of the EVAP system.

Where on the TB?

Mainly just at the plastic plate on the top, possibly the TB to intake gasket as well.

Anybody know about replacing those lines?
