so the last few days ( after seeing a vette and seeing a thread on here bout c4s) i thought it would be cool to have a lt1 vette.so i stopped today and looked at one. turns out its a silver 96 lt4 collectors edition with round 101k on the clock glass top and solid top 6 speed 100% stock. at a very low price. lil over 12k. i taked to the owner of the car lot and the car is n consignment there. and has been for like 3 months with not many offers. i asked the lot owner if the car owner would be might wanna trade for my 95 trans am. he said he would call the guy. so i set up a date to bring the car by for the car owner to look at. this thrs. and now im thinkin bout how much i enjoy my bird. but i still have my 80TA. my bird has a factory ws6 hood the car was repainted last spring has a ram air box m6 rearend trans has been rebuilt with shift kit 17" and 18" black c6 z06 wheels tires have like 1000 miles on em. car over all has 127xxx miles. if i could get him to take the car for like 5500 or 6000 ( or do ya think thats too low?) and talk him down on the price some (dont think he knows what he has and there r some miner flaws with the car) would this be a smart trade? would i enjoy the vette just as much? has anyone else done a trade like this?

Have you ever driven a vette?
If you could trade and talk him done to you shelling out a few g I would do it. But I would personally sell your car and look for a c5

i thought bout a c5 but there r way too damn many round here! very few c4s and even greater few nice ones. and if i did this the cc503 i have at the house would go in the vette

oh and iv driven a vette befor but it was a c3
C4 corvettes are quite a bit different than F-bodies. I've owned a 94 camaro, a 98 Z28, and an 02 firebird, and currently own a 92 Corvette. As far as chassis and suspension go, they feel way different. The C4 is tighter, rattles less, handles much better, at first felt a bit slower than my old LS1, but I think its partly because of the suspension and tires. When I would gun the Z28, it would give me whiplash, and so does the C4 but not as much, I believe this is due to the suspension. The Z's rear end would squat a lot under acceleration, and the nose would dive under braking, while the C4 stays a bit more level. All in all I would go for it, probably not for 12 grand though. What I would do is find an older one like a 95 (vented opti), for like 7 or 8 grand, and stick the cam, and all the go fast goodies you have in it. Oh and C4s are way different than C3s

It does, I think what he means is you can go back another year (reduced value) and still get the benifit of the vented opti.
I love the LT1 vettes, but the only one I would trade my camaro for is a GRAND-SPORT..... yummmmyyyyyyy!

Are you sure it is an LT4. I remember someone selling one on one of the sites, and I was under the same assumption, and advised I was wrong.... I dont know, just bringing it up....

im 100% sure the vin says it is
If its a 96 and a six speed, its an lt4, and popo nailed it with the vented opti. I think youre right about the CE being worth a bit more than the normal vettes.
