So... how are you guys mounting your intake tube and air filters in your LTX swapped vehicles? What kind of clamps, mounts, etc. have you come up with?

I've got the elbow going to a MAF, and then a 90deg aluminum tube with a K&N on it behind the headlight.
My OLD setup had the tube welded to the front core support... less than ideal (heat transfer, and not able to remove it).

My current idea is to run a nut and bolt through the end of the K&N and bolt it either directly to the inner fender, or to a strip of aluminum mounted to the inner fender. Would be totally hidded. Only draw back is the LONG extension to get to the end of my filter:jest:

Or, bend a strip of metal and slip it under one of the hose clamps before tightening it down and bolt that to the core support.

Closest thing I have to a pic of where it runs. It's just resting on the rad hose now.

i would personally just encase it where you have it in the pic. i have a blazer with my filter in the same spot but made an enclosure to kinda barrier it from the motor heat. on my chevelle i actually had a wide short scoop under the bumper and my filter and elbow went through the wheel well but was closed up and just had a homemade ram air setup. only problem at the time was my filter was so low in the scoop that it would suck the water mist that would come off other cars tires when it would rain. so i just raised the filter higher up and is now not in a direct path of the scoop openening.lol

Mine's got a strip of metal bent to support the K&N filter, and then screws to the inner fender. It's not bent down like yours is though, mine just goes from the elbow -> MAF -> K&N, basically straight across to the fender.

I've always heard it's better to have some tube between the filter and the MAF so the air can "straighten out" before the MAF reading. Dunno though.

I mounted a small piece (couple inches long) of "L" aluminum to the core support, with a hole drilled in the surface parallel to the ground.

I then put a screw through the bottom of the filter (from inside), with a nut on the outside (large washers on both side to help prevent tearing the rubber). It helps that I have a filter large enough to put my entire arm in with a screw driver to tighten it :D . So basically, it left 1in of screw sticking out the bottom near the edge.

That screw sits in the hole I drilled in the aluminum. Basically, it's supported, but not mounted rigidly. No longer sits on the hose, and isn't high enough to rub hood (was worried about that... this tube is .5in larger). I really don't think I need to, but I may put a nylon lock nut on the under side... but i don't think there is any way it'll pull out.

1996 GMC 1500 with an LT1 swap

I made a sheetmetal enclosure where the storage under the hood went. Had necks on either side for the air filter clamp and for the air intake clamp. It wasn't really bad. Just time-consuming. If I can find pics, I'll post them.
