I don't know most you guys on a personnal level, but, I'd like to share my news. I'm getting married in October! I dropped the bomb and proposed thursday night. I'd been thinking about it for some time now but hadn't told anyone. I went to see a good friend of mine thursday and on the way home I decided it was time! I stopped and got a ring (she told me what kinda what she wanted) and proposed that night (I couldnt wait.)
Saturday I had a cookout with all my friends. I decided to tell them all at once so I'd catch hell from everyone, all at one time. No one really seemed too shocked, I got a few "don't do it man" but it's all good. We all had a really good time (minus the next morning hangover.) She's a great person, has a four year old son that I enjoy spending time with. He has lots and lots of energy and calls my Trans Am "the race car", hahaha. I won't get to attend the shootout because I gotta save for the wedding, reception (big ass party), and honeymoon. My life is really going to be changing over the next few months, but I'm ready for it, its time to start a new chapter in my life.
Sorry if you think this is a pointless thread, I just wanted to share!

Thanks popo, I'll be 30 this year.
I lived a good bachelor life, so I think it's time to wave the white flag . I'm also thinking about pursuing a different career. I have a good job, and one that I love (been doing it since I was out of high school.) However, stress, health problems, strange hours, and not spending time with my loved ones (popo you know where I'm coming from) is starting to weigh in on me; plus, those that know me, know I've been through a lot in the past few years. I'm thinking about going into business for myself painting (it's something im good at, and enjoy also.) It's not a sure thing just yet, I need to get my ducks in a row, and make sure I can make a comfortable living first.
congrats man, best wishes

Congrats man, the months before our wedding were pretty stressful going over bills and making sure everything was paid and handled! We got married in November and waited till march for the honeymoon, this way we could combine our tax refunds to pay for it! With the right person being married doesn't really change much, Christie and I dated since 2001 and getting married just made us that much closer. Best wishes to both of you and take a deep breath when your planning the wedding, anything that involves "wedding" friggin triples in $!

Congrats to you and your soon to be!
Only advice I can give is go small since your having such a short engagement. We had a six month engagement and had to cough up $20k in that short amount of time for everything. Beleive me, beans and rice get old quick lol. Anyways best wishes to you and your future wife.

Thank you guys for all the kind words. I'm in charge of the reception, she's planning the wedding for the most part. I'm really hoping to get off fairly cheap on the $$$. She's a really simple girl and wants a budget friendly wedding. Who knows, everyone may be eating vienna sausages.lol

Congrats man. It's going to be a great time, and there WILL be some bad times. It's a roller coaster but is well worth the ride.

CONGRATS!!
I have been married 13 years (with wife for 18 now!) It has been great, but as Sean said it has its ups and downs. Kids (10 years apart), lay offs (3 times for me), death of my mother in law, and starting my own business has been hard.
I won't get to attend the shootout because I gotta save for the wedding, reception (big ass party), and honeymoon. My life is really going to be changing over the next few months, but I'm ready for it, its time to start a new chapter in my life.

DO NOT let the wedding day take over everything before the marriage. Me and my wife counsel engaged couples and latley we have seen a trend to over do the wedding. It casuses a lot of tension. We paid for our own wedding in 1997. It was not cheap, but we didnt go overboard either. You have to remember the wedding is a day, the marriage is a lifetime.

Yay, Congrats!! :claps: I never really saw the point of a huge, expensive wedding either-- simple ones with just your closest friends and family seem more meaningful

Well I thought I'd update....
The stress is over... Everything went very smooth. It went by so fast; everything was a blur. I tell ya, I've seen a lot in my life, but, nothing compares to the rush I had when I saw her walk out in her wedding dress. The reception was a blast, I think everyone had a great time.
I didn't drive the T/A because the clutch is out of it, BUT............... I got the best wedding gift EVER!!!!!!!!! A new clutch!!!!!!! One of my groomsmen actually bought me a clutch for a wedding present. I nearly fell over when he told me (its on back order, should be here this week.) Man, I tell ya I really couldn't ask for better friends in my life.
We had our honeymoon in Biloxi MS (about 12 hours from VA.) It was freaking awsome, we had a blast. The beach is very nice, good food, shopping, and gambling. I won 1000 bucks the first night on a slot machine. The extra money really helped out to make it a great time.
I'll try and post a pic or two in a few days.

Congratulations! I just got married back in July and it's been great so far. It was a big step for me, because I'm 25 and I always said that I was never getting married.
Tomorrow will be 3 months and she's already talking about kids! :face_shocked:
