so i've been having a small oil leak lately, about a quart a day. when i looked under the car it was comming from the back of the block and down the dust cover by the bell housing/tranz. so we pulled the tranz and replaced the rear main and oil pan gasket. it didnt fix it. last time i looked its still comming down the tranz and on to the lower end of the headers. now thinking oil pressure sensor. i'll be starting this tomorrow. mobil 1 isnt cheap. while i'm doing this i'm thinking to take off the intake for access and doing that gasket too. any advice or input? also does anyone know what size socket i need to take off the pressure sensor? i cant find my repair manual but i think its fairly straight foward til it comes to bolting down the intake and i'll have the specs for that when it comes around. thanks.

It could be the oil pressure sensor but it is more common for the back of the intake to not be sealed all the way and it be leaking from there, my car had that a few years ago.
When you replace the intake gaskets, put a thick bead of RTV (I use the grey one) on the back and front of the block where the intake seats.. give it about 24 hrs to cure then heat cycle it a couple times.

None of the intake links work on that page. Guess he doesn't update very often.

gotta scroll down near the bottom to get the 5.7, but overall i find that site to be very helpful in terms of the step by step instructions and pictures given. i printed the writeup out and will do the intake when i park it in the fall.

A quart a day is an enormous leak! I've never heard of a car leaking oil that badly.

so far so good. took it out on a little test run after i finished. turned out to be the pressure sensor. intake may have been leaking a bit but probably 90% of it was the sensor. it was broke where the plastic meets the metal. and i may have exagurated a bit, it was probably like 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart a day. the intake seem to be sealed up nicely as well although i didnt follow the exact bolt pattern though but i think it should be good. the only thing that could leak now is the v/c's and timing cover. looks like next thing will be a clutch :( to prep for a cam :). thanks again for the great links. they helped.
